    • I would probably examine other religions to see if all were disproven. If so, I would probably be a bit depressed for a while, then pick myself up and try to cling onto some hope that there was something beyond this corporeal existence, even without a god. Call me sentimental or naive, but I think that this all has a purpose.

Has the following question been asked:

What would you do if a deity was proven to exist?

It would be witty if you could type correctly.

          Over-excited, are we?

No, just my feeble attempt at wit. I should have known better. Pity that you missed the delberate typo to demonstrate that you would try to shift the argument by attacking my typing skills, but the result is the same anyway.

Anyway, why should they respond just to be ridiculed by you. You won't post a rational response as you claim, since you haven't yet. You're just looking for some fun at others expense. I know, I do sometimes too, but I just don't getoff on it the way you do. You seem to need it more.

          • Okay, I let off a long prolife thread to calm down over. Dropping the previous angle, I would say how exactly God is disproved is essential to the argument. How were we told this? Who argued it to us, with what arguments?

I personally hold God to be an ultimate authority where veracity is concerned. Most "conflicts of church and state" result from hasty assumptions by one side or the other. For example, there's nothing in Christian canon that says the sun revolves around the earth. Also, science is a set of beliefs based on the assumption of a naturalistic cause for all things; a single "supernatural" ingredient creates a whole different universe, so evolution vs. creation is a pointless fight, like comparing hot dogs to Bach concertos. How do you compare the worth of two things so totally different? But I digress.

Crap, I lost my train of thought. I think what I was going to say is, supposing somebody told you it is in fact our civic duty to hunt old people for sport, how would you react? I imagine your first response is something like, "why?" or "who said that?" You probably can't even imagine how such a thing could be (at least, I can't). That's much like how I feel. You're proposing a totally altered worldview based on quantities unknown. My reaction would depend wildly based on circumstances.

            • Next item of discussion: which is superior? Waffle House or IHOP.

I'm a big IHOP fan myself, although I am sympathetic to both.

              • "deity/cosmic order you follow and all it's attendant dogma was proven to be unreal..."

My religion doesnt say that G-d is all things, but it does include in its dogmas, that the world exists and is fundamentally good place. Also that human beings have both good and evil potentiality. and quite a lot of other things. Im having a hard time wrapping my arms around a world where ALL the dogmas of my religion are false. Im not even sure how to relate the word "dogma" to my religion. Some rabbis have claimed that NO single belief is mandatory beyond that "the lord is one" which would allow for pantheism like Japhers, for example, if we allowed all interpretations. Others have stated that the 13 principles of faith enunciated by Maimonides are mandatory - ie dogma. Others would go much further.

Frankly youre entire question sounds like one edsigned to troll christian fundamentalists. For those of us who are NOT christian fundamentalists, the best answer seems to be a zen buddist one.

Q: what would you do if there were no god?
                A. Cream soda is delicious

This is what in Zen is called a Koan, IIUC. You can learn something from it spiritually, as you can learn something from music. It is fundamentally a denial of your attempt to reduce these questions entirely to word games (not that words arent useful - i await your answer as to whether youve read Buber)

Personally, I like Huddle House more than Waffle House. But there's truthfully not much difference. Where I live we have this faux WH called Waffle House of Indiana Inc. What a rip off

                      You have it all wrong.
I only picked up your typo for fun, so feel free to have revenge at the any typo I make.

I don't seek to have a go at any posters here, even the obvious spammers.

A thread is about communication and if people want to clown around, well and good.
I am not a mod and can't do anything about it, it's not my issue, matey.

I am not ridiculing, in that you accuse me wrongly.
I show respect to any poster who is civil.

I couldn't care less how silly a poster is being.
                      Again, it's not my problem!

We get Crush up here, that is not bad.

However, I'm actually having a nice cup of tea. Nothing like tea to clear the sinuses.

People thinking that a god is real is nothing new either, but it is getting rather stale.
Like fine wine, eh? Unfortunately my stocks are empty. I must run to the market.

Do you have a legitimate argument to prove your faith, or are you just restricted to an old book and lame humour?
It is a rather old book. Some do say age brings wisdom.

If you are trying to present yourself as creditable, you are not doing very well.
/me eats another slice. Are you sure you don't want any?

                            No thanks,
