Oh bodycount is fourteen now (14). This is very sad, italians are good people, exept for mr. GWBofEU
If I'd pray I'd pray for the italians now, but I'm sure this will be remembered in the Missa italiana here...

Take a ten year perspective on it. Like in Chechnya. Plenty of time to learn people to speak arabic.

Also they will have translators. One Iraqi collaborator will be the 'faux' commander, while the real one stays in the background.

It's a matter of honour, see. If they let the aglomaericans just walz in the place it would mean that they submit. Not to mention that that would open the appettite for more of the same from the agloamericans. That's why they keep busting balls down there. It has to be taught a lesson to the US/uk that you won't get out of here without a bloodied nose.
Honour, pride, resistance, that's how they see it.
I feel bad for the iraqi people proper. Victimized by both sides, each with its own agenda

The Iraqi fighters are fighting for national freedom. Bush, Blair and Berlusconi are fighting for their honor now. The tables have been turned. The narrative has changed.

Why do you all have the EU flag below your name? Does it make you proud or something?

                    (a) Since when is the return of a Baathist dictatorship, or the institution of an Islamic state "freedom?" There hasn't been any evidence, not any, that any of these acts have been carried out or planned by individuals fighting for anyone's "freedom."

                    (b) It's charming to see in this thread so much emphasis on the hoped-for political consequences regarding Berlusconi, and so little about the dead and their families.

Empaty is hypocritical. One death is a tragedy, a million deaths is statistics.

It's kind of funny. When Americans die over there, we are pissed that our countrymen are dead. When Italians die, you hope it brings down the goverment. Isnt that kind of odd?

That will teach them to import pizza to a Muslim country.

Seriously though, I'm not happy about it. But when you put on a uniform and pick up a gun, some people will shoot at you.

The only solution is for all occupation troops in Iraq to go naked everywhere.
