Porn VS Rambo

Something came to my mind.

Do you poeple find it normal that someone, such as Rambo, can play at 6 pm at night and blow poeples heads off, burn villages, kill poeple, gun people, name it (all thing that we are not allowed to do by law or moral) BUT porn is not allowed at 6pm or whenever (XXX I mean).

Hear me first.

Setting aside from child pornography, beastiality and all that weird shlt, porn movies should be aloud at any hour. Making love or having sex is something that everyone does or will do someday. Our survival depends on it. It is not illegal to have sex in anyway unless it is with a minor, and even in these cases there are exeptions.

BUT

It is illegal and immoral to kill, torture, rape or beat up poeple but it is allowed to be shown on TV at anytime....Where is the logic.

I cannot see poeple have sex on TV, like I do with my girlfriend but I am allowed to see someone get his arms torn off on TV. And if I try that on someone I'll get 20 to life.

I think that poeple should re-think their priorities.

I'd say neither ought to be shown at an early hour. Kids will get plenty of instruction when they get older in the 'how's and why's.'

I know ben, but Id rather have my kid see some guy pounding on a girl than Commando cutting a guys head in half.

LATG: Depends on which porn you talk about. Like comedy, there is fine comedy and there is "Hardcore" comedy. Of course I would vote for light pron and no Hardcore porn that aims at a selective clientel such as Dissident.

Happy, realistic, and healthy sex ought to be accessible even to kids (maybe not broadcast at cartoon's time though - I think kids should get acquainted with sex only at some point of their development, because even happy sex can look violent and traumatic to the youngest ones)

Porn should not, because it is nasty and humiliating. I find it actually very sad porn is the only graphical sexual education the kids have a dubious access to.

Rambo-ish movies should also be broadcasted later. Such violence, especially when it's shown in a positive light, should not be showed to kids for it could shake their conceptions of good and bad (if this exposure is systematical)

For one thing, rambo is just special effects and I think kids know that. Its not like they can just lay their hands on a helicopter and wreak havoc. Girls are much easier for them to lay their hands on.

I think what the media shows us tempers us to the society. Violent films allow us to cope with the violent nature of society (wars and all) while not showing porn inphaizes the personal nature of intamicy that society wishes to maintain. Why this intimate nature? To avoid diseases, high birth rates, and polygamy. Why is this bad? I don't know. I don't think the intentions of keeping porn on the down-low began because of these concerns but is propogated because of them. Perhpas the origions have to do with religious strongholds, embaressment, or even just plan out heterophobia.

Funny you should mention Rambo, I was watching Rambo 3 just yesterday. I had the laugh of my life, considering what's happening in Afghanistan nowdays. I was expecting Bin Laden to show up as an extra somewhere in the film.

Rambo 3 was on prime time yesterday (21:00) and had a "Parental consent required" (PG-13 equivalent IIRC) rating. Right after that (23:00), the same channel aired, a very controversial film which I enjoyed watching for the second time: "American History X" starring Edward Norton. This is widely considered as an extremely violent film and it had a rating one scale heavier: "Inappropriate for under 15 years old".

IMHO, learning about keeping out of hate groups is much more sound and useful for juveniles than learning to shoot the evil foes of uncle Sam, whoever they may be each time. Even if the former comes in more shocking scenes than the latter.

Ummmm, I disagree. Porn is seen as the devil because of religion, more precisly christianity. Being a virgin is pure and a women who has a lot of sex is automaticly a whore. That's where, imo, it comes from.

Huh? They can make the difference?!?! I dont remember making the difference when I was a kid. I remember thinking that Mr.T was the strongest man in the world. I also remember thinking that commando was lifting a real tree trunk at the begining of the movie but I realized 5 years later when I saw the movie again that it was made of stirofoam.

So no, kids dont make the difference. And I know my 3 year old son doesn't. And I cant do shlt about him falling on Rambo in the middle of the afternoon when he's flipping channels.

But I hadn't thought of that Spiffor, maybe kids could see it as a violent act, but never as violent as chopping someones head of with a spoon....
