Bush may be a partiularly venal, stupid, and corrupt President, but in terms of war and domestic repression, he's not really that far removed from most of our previous Presidents.

As for the deficit, deficit spending during a recession can be a good thing, provided it's properly targetted. This is where his stupidity and corruption make a difference, since this deficit isn't targetted to stimuating the economy.

BTW, under Gore's tax plan, people under $375,000 income level would be taxed less than under the Bush plan... and it was still projected to have a surplus.

Also, because the cut was less than Bush's, programs would not be gutted and state and local taxes would not be raised. But yet, the dopes still believe the Bush 2001 plan was good. (edit: this means that people would not be getting $400 in the mail, but rather thousands less in tuition costs and health care costs)
