  • Boo Hoo, he got some obscene calls at home. (we don't know how many) It is a shame that he wasn't the one answering the phone. So some morons call. I answer calls from morons all day. (regular telemarketers and my daughters boyfriend wannabes) boo hoo.
I don't see it as shooting the toe vs stepping on it.
You know they're exagerating to make it sound worse.

It's his own DAMN Fault for being an idiot. I may not totally agree with the retaliation since it's a bit childish, but I don't have a problem with it.

How many phone calls do you think his wife listened to before she just unplugged the phone. Or do you think she was quizzing the callers to see how bad they would get. Having to get a new phone number is probably the right payback.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

Of course, there's always the possibility that, out of professional courtesy, Carlson gave his number to FOX at some point in the past. If that's the case, I don't think he can pursue legal action against them. It ends up just being a shameful, humiliating experience for FOX ... but they seem to revel in that light, so it's probably no skin off their hides.

I agree that FOX should be sued also on invasion of privacy grounds.

I find it remarkable that all the posts here from the left focus on FOX's response and have nothing to say about Carlson. I assume they do not condone what Carlson did, but it is hard to tell.

Maybe I didn't say. Carlson was an idiot, but he wasn't a malicious idiot.

Actually no. The number of watchers on even a low rated cable show far outnumber the hits that even a popular website gets.

              • Everyone involved is an idiot, and I don't see how either side can claim to be "holier than thou" in this escapade.

Hmmm, when I answer the phone, there is a little short mumbling then they hang up. Maybe I shouldn't answer the phone with a real mean sounding HELLO. (caller ID is real boon for fathers like me.) It helps you recognize the potential trouble makers. And keeps you from sounding like a homicidal maniac when it's your parents calling.

The number of people who watch a low rated cable show avidly with pen and paper handy to catch one three-second announcement outweighs the damage of having it published in text for the entire world to come along and reference at any time they wish?

Despite how much we may use the web - tv is a whole nother universe in terms of numbers.

                      • Just a small point. Anyone who wants to pull some crap on FOX will now think twice, won't they? FOX plays hardball.

                        • FOX plays hardball.
Hey, now MSNBC can sue Fox for playing "hardball". Btw, it appears Bill O'Reilly pushed Fox into suing Franken and O'Reilly then denied it after the suit was tossed (laughed) out of court.
So, was O'Reilly complaining that Franken used his picture on a book about liars?
