It's not as if there have been any historical gay rights riots.

In other words, "The meek shall inherit the earth"...

Or, "If you're quiet and nice, you get buried".
Yes there has been in San Francisco during the Stonewall incident in 1969 where the pro-gay Mayor of San Francisco and another governmental official were assasinated, and then their murderors were given only manslaughter convictions. Gays and Lesbians stormed city hall burning things, breaking windows and rioting.

And also the riot (gays storming the building) that took place against the American Psychological Association to take the term homosexuality off the mental illness list.

Rioting? If you can't convince, overthrow. Do you have any sources to confirm these riots, Thorn?

I thought the whole gay rights movement began with a riot in Greenwich Village in N.Y. in the 1970s?

I wonder how developmentally disabled the victim was. In my view taking advantage of a mentally retarded person is pretty darn heinous.

EvC poorly worded his post, so that two seperate events look like one event. Stonewall and the "Harvey Milk" riots.

Yes, the Stonewall riots were the ones I was trying to think of. There used to be an organization called "Act Up" that sponsored protests which sometimes got a bit violent too.

17 years for giving head? Land of freedom indeed. You lot need to question what your government and states do more...

No, he wasn't. Read your own effing article!

Matthew Limon is appealing a 17-year prison sentence he received because shortly after he turned 18 he performed consensual oral sex on another teenager at a residential school for developmentally disabled youth where they both lived in Miami County, Kansas. If he had instead performed oral sex on a female of the same age, he would have received no more than 15 months in jail under the Kansas law. But because the "Romeo and Juliet" law applies only to heterosexuals, Limon was convicted under the much harsher state sodomy law.

I thought people could still marry underage cousins in Kentucky.

I'm a bit staggered teenagers get thrown in jail for having sex.

Only in America and Iran probably.

Actually, I think in most mid-southern states & the bible belt you can only have sex with a minor legally if you're blood relatives 'n promised to them.

... and God didn't make Adam and Steve, but by biblical accounts Adam & Eve's children had to begat with each other !

*Ahem* was it not the arrest of teenage gays in the U.K. that prompted the recent changes in the age of consent laws there?

A lot Western countries have laws on the statute books including Australia but it would be unthinkable to give teenagers jail time for consensual sex in most cases. If you took the matter to the Police here you'd have a hard time getting them to even charge anybody if the "offenders" were close in age.
