I think only the second degree of seperation still matters. After that, info is lost in the noise. And that only if you chat about what the person was like. For instance, I have some limited sense of randomturn and pchang from what Sten said about them.

Are you doing a year's working visa, or did you get jammy and get a posting with your work?

I have a year working holiday visa. The chance of getting a posting would have been remote to none as I didn't have a job when I came out here. If I am really lucky I may find a sucker corporation or firm to sponsor me for a four year visa.
