Swiss German is terribly hard to understand for any German speakers.
My German has a strong southern accent, especially from the Stuttugart region.Comment

Most funny thing was when I was waiting for a bus at the bus stop in Windermere (now, where's that? "mere" obviously was related to the size ...). I heard one word "Längkäschter" (to be pronounced roughly German) and I could locate the speaker to ~70 km ... (Bit south of Stuttgart).
Other thing was someone speaking French with an accent more Swiss German than anyone in Basel could produce.
Btw, Lord Merciless, there is a Swiss German accent and a Swiss German dialect. It's the dialect which is hard to understand (or better, it's a whole bunch of dialects, because in Switzerland, language changes from one valley to the next...). The accent is certainly funny but reasonably well to understand. It is the result of a Swiss trying to speak standard German. Same holds for (most) other German-speaking regions.Why doing it the easy way if it is possible to do it complicated?Comment
