I would say that gays are generally more promiscuous than straights simply because men are more promiscuous than women.

What I was stating in my initial post, is the prevelance of open-relationships among homosexuals. Is this a problem or not? Are open-relationships as healthy as monogamous relationships?
If one is promiscuous while single, going from one trick to another, but then settles down into a relationship with someone later, that really is not a problem, IMO.
The reason a lot of people find it difficult to commit to a monogamous relationship is because it requires selflessness. As I see it, the problem with promiscuity is that it's something that deprives you of an experience that can enrich your life immeasurably.

Well duh -- two wrongs do not make a right. But is promiscuity really a bad thing if one outgrows it later, and decides to settle into a real relationship? Maybe promiscuity is a normal part of an individual's development?

And I partly agree -- look at all the mammal species in which males go bonk one female after another. For some reason, with humans though, women have some sort of counter-balance to men who would normally be non-monogamous in heterosexual relationships. Or maybe that does not make any sense?

But if that is the case, then yeah, I can see why two gay men would have more difficulty in establishing a stable, monogamous relationship. But the other half of the problem, are the homophobic laws that discourage gay men from "settling down."

                              • Or the laws that don't recognise a gay relationship as a real relationship in the first place.
