Eeewww, that's what you sell as American Cheese? "Scheibletten" as they sell it in Germany? Try to get something better. I'm sure you can find it in a coutry that large. OK, I really like medium-old Gouda, or a ripe Emmentaler. A not-so-old Camembert, most fresh cheeses, or Gorgonzola. I don't like old Gouda, or most soft (mould) cheeses. but this is a matter of taste, and I respect it. What I despise is the absence of taste as in the typical McDonald cheese. As well you might try Dutch tomatoes (which are known as the fourth aggregate state of water).
Why doing it the easy way if it is possible to do it complicated?

As long as it isn't you own, I see no problem .

Adalbertus is a cheese-eater after my own tastes. And heck, I'm even American.

Actually, I was reading the other day that American fine cheeses are actually becoming more and more respected in international circles, what with our rich dairy tradition over here in the states. "American" cheese is just the industrial-strength facet of our cheese production.

GePap, do NOT diss the Velveeta. Best Mac and cheese and best grilled cheese sandwiches are made with the stuff. MMMMMmmmmm.

Most commercial brands like that have more oil than milk.
The entire Kraft schtick was that they use more milk than the other brands. Then again, it's still hideous no matter whut, so it really doesn't matter.

I like deli-style Sharp cheddar or Pepper-jack cheese on crackers for a snack for a (american) football game. YUMMM!

Hell no. The stuff is way to salty and destroys the tastes of other things, and the taste of it isn't particularly good anyway. Best Mac and Cheese is made with good Chedar cheese.

Another inferior American product - like most American beer and wine (Sam Adams excepted).

As a former northern Californian, all I can say is that you apparently know squat about wine...
