Ok, cryptic points. What are you trying to say? When you **** up due to a regime change, try it again?
“Now we declare… that the law-making power or the first and real effective source of law is the people or the body of citizens or the prevailing part of the people according to its election or its will expressed in general convention by vote, commanding or deciding that something be done or omitted in regard to human civil acts under penalty or temporal punishment….” (Marsilius of Padua, „Defensor Pacis“, AD 1324)
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891
Well considering that 80% of the Democrats in the Senate didn't even want to take action in Gulf War 1...
And more than 50% of the country didn't want to go to war either, so apparently the Dem's were better at listening to their consituents.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio
Dino, you ****. I'm a BALDING lawyer. I'm still a couple years from aging...

Iran is democratic like the US is democratic. No matter who you vote for, you get the same old ****. In one country, the government is controled by right-wing religious fundimentalists who own huge portions of the economy. In the other one, the government is controled by right-wing religious fundimentalists who own huge portions of the economy. We should be embracing them as brothers.

The US is more subtle as it allows dissentive speeches. Of course, the US doesn't allow dissentive actions, but hey, honest Americans have nothing to fear

We need to controle the poppies and the pistols,to see if we can't starve out some of these warlords.IMO The local Sultan or Mullah is a confederate to the central house hence a Confederacy exist not wholly theocratic. Each cell of the confederacy can raise a malitia from its peoples( our geography notwithstanding.) You'll call me nuts but maybe we should buy the poppies and stockpile opiates, thus denying hostiles some income, while encouraging local
trade, and rebuilding some Afgan economy.Other covert measures?
The world is a messy place, and unfortunately the messier it gets, the more work we have to do."

Just one problem - fundies from two different sects.

Erm, I thought we were talking about Iran ?
Does Iran take a significant chunk of its income from opiates ?

Come on, che and Spiff: don;t become irrelevant like GP. Iran is not as dmneocraticas the US. It is a theocraticrepublic. Ayatollahs still control the moeans of internal violence, and the conservaitve ones that care more about the thoecratic than the republic part of the state are not shy about using them.
To state that Iran is not ruled by brutal despots is not the same as saying that the Us and Iran are on equal levels.

GP, since you were complaining about Roland´s one liners, let me take up the cudges for him:
I don´t know how many languages you speak. but most likely the only language one is able to elaborate 100% perfectly is one´s mother language. the longer the sentences become, one has to type in a foreign language, the more he will struggle. Roland (and most of the other non American/British posters) certainly know this problem. I´m convinced that these on-liners oftenly aren´t caused by the lack of arguments, but by missing english words or grammar knowledge.
3. Oh...and things in Germany worked out a lot better after we went in and did the more explicit regime change.
see, I could easily explain, why Iran isn´t comparable to Germany, if we could agree arguing in German language. in English language it would be a struggle for me, and since I´m convinced you know that these two cases can´t be compared anyway, I just leave it.
