Since the goal of the attack was to force Americans to shoot at Arabs, firing into the air is sufficient. Please provide one reason why Americans would fire at protestors, risking obvious negative press.

It is about time Saudi Arabia stops being the very dear friend of the US.

Sandman, Your position is that US soldiers wantonly opened fire on a peaceful crowd??
No, I think it's possible they panicked, and opened fire.

You should eithier get a life or get an education on US rules of engagement.
The rules of engagement are bits of paper, not natural laws. It's perfectly possible for soldiers to open fire in panic (it seems they used over one hundred rounds) and then cry 'gunmen' to cover up their failings. I think it's bizarre to think that US troops are not as fallible as any other army in history.

The American rule of engagement apparantly is to use overwhelming firepower whenever they encounter a problem, then ask the questions later. Trigger-happy cowboys! We have heard numerous reasons triggering massacres on civilians the last few weeks: bangs from the exhust pipe of a car, people not obeying orders (perhaps because they didn't understand English), friendly fire from other marines and in a few cases actual enemy assults.

That has to be some of the most bold faced lies I have heard in a while. I'm watching CNN and they're showing bullit holes in the build the soldiers were in, spent 7.68 ammo casings, and even a few captured AK-47s.

Contrary to your blustering position, the truth is that US forces are constrained far more than any occupying army ever has been. It is true that US soldiers doctrine is to use overwhelming firepower; it is also true that most army's are not equipped to or they would also. Given the circumstances, I think that things have been pretty mild. Also, I might point out, a "rule of engagement" is weather or not to use force. It is a doctrine on how much to use when engagement is decided on.

There are admittedly many things to change for the US or any country to be perfect. Probably will never get there. To look beyond reality to fabrication just to find a way of spouting anti-US rhetoric is sad Olaf. You can do better.

Can you believe that it is a death sentence for any non-Muslim to hold a religious service in Saudi Arabia?

Bloody liberals. They should make it illegal for everyone.

to removal of **** from SA

to this latest shooting... this is why I wanted a UN force in Iraq. While this shooting is not America's fault, it's exactly the kind of rhetoric the Mullahs will use against us.
To us, it is the BEAST.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not stupid enough to think the world is only black and white. But this incident just reminds me of Samuel L. Jackson's character shouting the order in "Rules of Engagements":

                              - Let's waste the muthafukas!

That's just a fiction movie, but I think it reflects the American culture of trigger-happieness pretty well (as well as the islamic extremists tendency to hide in crowds of innocent).
