  • Obviously we want Banana to send Feudalism to the Rabbits immediately! Frankly, Donovan should have done so many turns ago. The only one that's going to be angry is PAL, and I don't think Banana needs to be particularly worried about that. We should also suggest again that Banana consider canceling their Open Borders with PAL - that's still the best way we can economically attack their team.

I do think it's good news that PAL has been grabbing all the freebie prizes on the tech tree rather than pushing on into the truly dangerous stuff. Three or four turns spending picking up Economics means delaying their aquisition of Rifling, Astronomy, etc.

By the way, do they actually have a Great Scientist sooooo? I didn't see that in the message...?

Yes, they got it this turn according to the turnlogger.

I presume they want the GM to start a corperation, and I think it's probably the right move for them because it denies the merchant to us. And they could presumably trade it away to Imperio.

Free market will be borderline-useless for PAL because they just get an extra 1 commerce internal trade route in each city for a higher maintenence civic.

      • I've never seen a corporation founded in MP play. Of course the PAL guys could have been reading up on corp strategy, but they may just want the free great person.

        • Even if all PAL does with the Great Merchant is a trade mission to Imperio, that still pays for just about the entire research cost of Economics anyway. It's like a reverse lightbulb.

Yes, we want Banana to give Feudalism to Rabbits ASAP. Banana could even play dumb and tell PAL that it wasn't them, Imperio must have supplied it. And I don't see how it's breaking a NAP. Maybe Rabbits can give some token item so Banana can claim they're just making a fair trade.

          • I was thinking of this:

            Hi Dononvan,

We noticed you got a GS and we checked the tech preferences and it looks like if you were to lightbulb then you'd get printing press (after you trade for education from us).

Since you'd probably prefer the short-term gain of a lightbulb, we thought we'd suggest that we research chemistry after education and optics and you go for printing press. That way we even the beakers out (edu+chem = astro+PP) and also you get to use your GS on something useful. Probably since you've gone into war-mode then that means that our GNP will overtake yours so you'll get chemistry sooner if we research it. Printing press is pretty good, it's on the path to rifles.

Let us know what you think,

Giving feudalism and closing borders with PAL were in the last email and some before too. I don't want to put it in every single email!

            • I like the email, but I'd add something about gifting Feudalism to Rabbits now: 'it'll make PAL angry, but does that really matter: if they won't offer you a ne NAP on reasonable terms, then they clearly plan to attack you in the near future. If gifting Feudalism slows down their conquest of Rabbits then it might even result in PAL having to delay their attack on Bananaland. It's your empire on the line, so we're not trying to make the decision for you, but rather we're calling the situation as we see it.'

              • Proposed email with Swiss' addition sounds good.

PS Alternatively, he could prepare to make a pre-emptive strike into PAL territory as soon as NAP runs out. In that case, not giving Feudalism to Rabbits would be wiser, because it would do less to broadcast Banana's intentions.

Can we do an operation thread for a Banana strike against PAL's city that is so badly positioned, and send them the conclusions?

                • Email sent. I didn't press the feudalism issue because sunrise spoke in-game to donovan about it. We can send yet another email about it if we want, but I sent the single-issue email I wrote above.

                  • Ick...Steel. If PAL gives Imperio Steel that is going to suck.

We'd just have to move fast. If we kill the Imperio mega-stack Imperio won't be able to produce cannons as fast as we can produce knights.

But you're right - letting Imperio get a few mini-stacks of cannons in their north and south would be quite bad.

                      • It would suck, but it would be a massive gamble for PAL to take: they'd be gifting Chemistry as well, and that's a hell of a lot of beakers. I can only see PAL being that generous when it's too late too matter, and we've over-run Imperio's army & taken/razed their key cities.

                        • Could we use espionage to steal it if they did that?

                          Comment

                          • Not really since if we do that we're screwing over our allies who would want to trade for it but can't, so they have to self-research the tech and hence we hurt ourselves because they could be researching something for us. Not to mention the loss of science from running the slider and the chance of failiure.

                            • If we had enough beakers to steal a tech from Imperio, we'd certainly due that before we peed on the ashes of their last city.
