  • Do we need to somewhat change our thinking here?

If Pal are going to have Nationalism in 6turns as Banana have suggested, would we be better off trying to trade it from them rather than self-research?

    We can offer them:
    Engineering
    Drama
No-build clause on Taj (really, if we self-research Nat we have no chance of getting it anyway)
Continued supply of Marble for Taj-multiplier
A large wad of cash, or another tech (Banking / Gunpowder) that we research with it.

We shouldn't mention that we know they are researching it, but we can say that if the bulb it with Liberalism, we are very interested in getting hold of it....

Ah, that looks very good. It's easier to read than mine, mainly because I tried to make it easier to experiment with different tile assignments.

Not really. Most importantly, we would be breaking our agreement to supply it to banana. But also I do not think PAL are helping us any more. That's a trade in our favour, and one that PAL have not been making recently. They wouldn't even make the heavily-in-their-favour optics for engineering trade. We asked in our email (which they have not responded to) if they have any techs coming up that they want to trade, so they could mention it there if they want to trade nationalism. I think banana's figure of 6 turns is not correct - it is based on 100% research. They do not have 3 times the research power of us, even after we lost our trade routes.

          • T-Hawk: I changed your excel-sheet, so you can manually mess around with tile assignments. For the diehard micromanagers.

            • I logged in and changed Green Acres to barracks (see Globe Theatre project for reason why).

Here's a list of next turn's suggested actions:

John the Savage: Road current dyes tile to get our third dyes connected for trade.
Bernard: Some improvement at green acres. Whether that is mining a desert hill or starting an irrigation chain, I don't know. Probably the mine as it gets the eta for globe down.
Winston: Move into forest 1N of Twin Peaks sign, ready to road next turn.
The workers and troops in the desert to follow Sunrise's plan.
The workers at bluebell woods to finish the silks plantation.
China Beach to start a spy. Shoud fit in nicely to crank out a 3-turn theatre afterwards to line up with the T141 date of finishing 6 theatres.
Something fishy to start another catapult, then whip the turn after.
              Cape Town: I don't mind.

We should consider moving a few troops down from cape town next turn. Templars have axes in the south and only 1 spearman, so Betty Hur and Lady Godiva could be useful down there.

              • I believe Persephone is still needed to fogbust a couple of tiles up in the north. Leave here there. A lucky barb could wreck a lot of things now.

                • I disagree with barracks in Green Acres. IMO we should whip the barracks into the GT, which means that we start it later.

We don't need the barracks before the GT, just before the GT is finished

                  • I agree with everyone. Start the barracks now but don't finish it. This allows us to double whip the forge later and have the excess hammers go into either the barracks or the theatre (I think I prefer the theatre) ... then back onto the barracks and whip that into the Globe. Might need to build some units in between to get that all to line up.

I just want Imperio to move in. It's silly to each have so many hammers tied up in a stalemate. But they started it.

I'd feel better with about 2 more maces in the south. That would let me hit the Templar hill stack effectively. But as it stands we should be able to get our road network re-built, put a couple units outside Jerusalem, and maintain parity in the north; we'll just have to put up with that Templar stack for a while.

                        • Agreed; do you think we can draw them into an attack, or do you think they're just playing with sending Templars against us?

Could we make a feint against Jerusalem with a chunk of our Cape Town stack to draw them out?

Read the globe theatre thread, need at least 1 turn of barracks to prevent having to only single-whip the forge, and need drama the turn after we whip the forge so we overflow into theatre. Barracks will not get finished.

                            • Okay - sounds good then. I had been reading the globe thread but must have missed that.

Zeviz's trade off is a zero sum game ... 2 turns of drafting only nets you 6 units.
Don't forget that each time we draft in those other cities we loose hammers and commerce from unworked tiles as well.
