Would you like to tell us what the **** is going on? Ask to renegotiate a deal and then pull out the very next turn? Furthermore reject our engineering for optics deal, heavily in your favour, for an engineering for optics + music deal with Imperio that is heavily in their favour? Look at it from our point of view - wouldn't you be annoyed? Supplying techs to the civ that is at war with you in lopsided trades is annoying. What would you say if we gave Rabbits two military techs for free? That would rankle quite a bit, wouldn't it? Oh, wait, that's exactly what Imperio did! The civ you are now supporting!

We expect a damn good explanation for this.

I now agree with the other posters with stopping open borders and persuading other teams to do the same. We should do it in ~48 hrs to wait for a reply to any email we send.

How about the following message:

Please take a look at the diplo screen, clicking on Imperio's image. Note the relations between Imperio, Templars, and Rabbits. Templars haven't self-researched anything in a long time and are getting their tech from Imperio. So are the Rabbits. They are also closely coordinating their military operations. If you continue supporting Imperio/Templar/Rabbit alliance, they will be able to gain full control of the western continent. Leaving entire western continent, and part of your own continent, in the hands of a single alliance, one of whose members you are currently at war with, might not be in your best interest.

EDIT: Cross-posted with Dreylin and Soooo. I guess my message is closer to Dreylin's in tone, while being closer to Soooo's in content. And I think we should close the borders before this turn is over. They are actively supporting our enemies. The least we can do is cancel all deals with them.

I dunno, it's pretty clear that they have turned against us.

But the way they did it, via the pretence of renegotiating a deal, it is simply rude. I've got no problem with them saying "You're our main rivals, we won't supply you ivory any more." But the way they pulled that ****, bunch of *****. I knew that guy I talked to in-game was a Liverpool fan.

I'd prefer not to send Soooo's message, because politeness is always better than insults. And there is a chance that we could convince PAL to at least stop supporting Imperio.

EDIT: We should also cancel any trades with them for resources we could get from Banana.

Well, you know, that I am not hugely impressed by the effects of diplomacy in this game. So I am very much in favor of soooo's message.
Close borders now, cancel the gems deal, get Banana to stop trading with Templars and get the gems from Banana.
It is time that a few relationships become clear.

Just logged into the game and closed borders with PAL. Also canceled the wine / gems deal.

Closing borders with PAL has hurt them for 20 raw commerce (25% of their trade route income).
Denying them wines leaves them with ivory & gems & gold (from Imp) as happy resources. Soon they will grab silver.

Wait... so Templars, Imperio, PAL, and RABBITS are all against us?!?! Is anyone else even TRYING to stop PAL from winning?! Like... I just cannot believe this. In Diplomacy terms, this is having England, Germany, and Italy all working together against France, while a runaway Russia gobbles up all of their supply centers uncontested. From a macro game standpoint, it is insanity of the highest possible order. What the hell is going on in this game?!?!

I dont see a need to tell off PAL with an angry message, but we should indeed make our displeasure known, and explain why we closed Open Borders. Could someone possibly work on that, and get a message sent out in the next 24 hours? Our current messages are a start, but dont explain our actions fully.

Anyway, we may as well start patching up relations with Banana further. Email Donovan and explain the situation further... Imperio, Templars, and PAL are clearly teaming up. That means Banana is going to get invaded as soon as we go down and/or the PAL NAP runs out. We should make it clear that RB and Banana absolutely HAVE to work together, or we will both be destroyed in the near future. Lets start talking exclusive tech alliance, no trading with anyone else. Might be hard to convince Banana of this, but if any trades they make with the other teams are going to help them invade Banana... well, its worth raising the point in discussion, right?

Your recent trade with Imperio and the cancelling of our Ivory deal (under pretence) clearly indicate that you have decided to take a side in our continent's war. We are somewhat suprised at your decision since it's scant turns since Imperio were feeding military techs to your enemies the Rabbits ... maybe if we did the same, you would side with us?

Given your recent actions we have cancelled all existing deals between our two nations, however we are ready to listen.
