  • How about:

    Dear Imperio,

Very good. We agree but we get Jerusalem. It is on our borders and we can capture it very soon. You get 3 cities (Constantinople, Damascus and Acre) and we get 2 - Jerusalem and Jericho.

We need to agree a NAP.

    • Are there any moral objections to just take the deal with imperio for now and prepare to stab them? Would make things a lot easier for us.

      • Hmm, Imperio will never agree if it's 3 cities to us vs 2 to them. I think we go for 2 vs 3, because we get another city or two on the south coast anyway and we can swamp Constantinople's culture with our creative trait.

          • That's huge news:

            1. It really looks like we've got a chance to knock down PAL.

            2. That info about PAL asking for RoP/durchmarsch is golden.

            3. They're actually taking a bit of initiative.

I agree that they're asking for too much, but I think we should take this opportunity to go for an alliance.

            • Fact is that we can't swallow too much land without going completely bankrupt, so we lack both the need and the means to attack Imperio. We need to agree a decent length NAP with them while we get Jerusalem and settle 2 more cities on the south coast. We need a settler to get the spot in between Jerusalem and Acre.

              • Here is a suggestion, if they are really serious.

We agree only to ally against Templars, not necessarily life long friend. Peace now for Drama. Open Borders now, to get some more trade route income (+7, not much) before we go (maybe) Mercantilism.

We agree to not attack Const, Damascus & Acre. We secretly drop a hint with Banana, to scramble for Acre!

We take Jerusalem. That is not negotiable I think. This will allow us to sneak a settler to the spot east of Jerusalem (there is a sea food tile unclaimed). And we can settle the spot east of Something Fishy. We might even be able to put a filler city in between Jerusalem and Pink Dot.

This is something I could live with.

Obviously, don't pass on that picture.

                • I agree with your dotmap Mostly Harmless. I was thinking 2 more cities actually - a city between Pink and Jerusalem to use the spare sugar and a very fillerish fishing village 3S of Jerusalem to use the spare clams.

                  • We must stress that we will continue to battle Templar regardless of the city split. If we capture one of 'their' cities, we will gift it to them. Is the $ we get from capturing the city enough compensation for possible loss of units?

                    • The "problem" is that we are exhausting ourselves to bring down Templars, in destroying most of their military, while Imperio can just swoop into their backyard, taking cities with no big effort.

I think we get an auto 10turns peace period, right?
If they have not moved their stak from Chichen Itza to attack Templars in that time, we know they cheated us and go for all of Templars ourselves.

Where the h*** does need PAL RoP through IMperio lands to attack Banana? Unless they want to bring down a fleet?! (Built where, exactly?). Or, this is misinformation on PAL's behalf and they want RoP to attack us.

                      • No, I think we should give the unlcaimed seafood spot west of Jerusalem to Imperio. That makes it 4-3 to them in their preception (but it's actually 4-4 as we can get 2 good cities into Jerusalem's western hinterland - one coastal, one inland)

We can justify Jerusalem on the grounds that we need a southern port near PAL to be any help in the war against them.

I think it would be pointless to try to give Banana Acre: it would rankle with Imperio, and if we're going to take PAL down, then Banana will get to settle on the remains of Giza, Pi-Ram & Elephantine.

                        • Dear Imperio,
we get Jerusalem, you get Constantinople, Damascus and Acre.

We do peace and open borders this turn. We give you Drama for it. No scouting.
You declare war on Templars this turn.

We can discuss resource trades next turn.

                          Regards

You mean teh spot east of Jerusalem. And I disagree. I don't want to mention this a city site anywhere in an agreement with Imperio. We are talking existing Templar cities, not more. 4-3 or 4-4 is not relevant. Imperio and Templars have both not scouted too well, so possible new city site opening up are irrelevant.

Imperio has not said a word about going to war with PAL. They will ally with us against Templars. To get some share of the spoils of war. That's it.
Also keep in mind Imperio gets very good cities. Damaskus is really nice and Const grabs horses and copper.
Jerusalem on the other hand, suck big time.

                            • I wouldn't mention anything about a city south of Damascus.

Imperio will not agree to declare on Templars this turn. They lose all element of surprise by doing so. We should take that part out of the email. We could say they need to declare within 5 turns.

                              • 5 turns is too long. We need Templars to weaken their Jerusalem defenses sooner. If we wait 5 turns, we will have beaten their stack by then and Templars will pour everything into the defense of Jerusalem, leaving Imperios targets wide open.

Say 2 turns, that will allow them to actually station some troops next to Templars border.
