I sent my second draft and both of the spanish versions.

For people who used Babelfish, how good is your Spanish? I've gotten results from Babelfish ranging from bizzare to atrocious, so I would rather send English-only message than a Babelfished on.

The English message suggested looks good, but we should add in the end something like "And after dealing with Templars, our teams will be strong enough to take on PAL." This would show them that attacking Templars wouldn't just free our hands to take out Imperio.

I was afraid of that too, so I checked most of the words to see if they were translated in the right context.

My Spanish is pretty good. I lived 2 years in the Dominican Republic and was very fluent then. Unfortunately that a) was 12-14 years ago and b) it was a religious mission, so phrases like "unguarded Incan cities than against our stacks" and "Do you want to sign a NAP with us and use your troops to conquer templars?" did not come up as often as "read your scriptures" and "go to church"

Maybe we should adjust our thinking regarding their response rate - they seem to have lifted their game in this department. If the other teams have worked this out - then they are in front of us re diplo with Imperio.

Does anyone really believe this email? I think they are just dragging us out like templars did with drama. If anything this just shows us that they aren't sure if they can attack and win so they need more time to get more troops. IMO.

The good news is that we have kept our resource trades (phants, iron, other resources, etc) but we have lost our international trade routes (GDP down a lot - now +96 per turn at 0% science)

I agree Strow. But so far Imperio hasn't been able to out-produce Cape Town. I do miss the cloak-and-dagger reports of what Imperio city built what though....are they too hard to do now or am I missing them?

Well, I was thinking that Sullla (stepping down from turnplayer) would keep those updated. Guess I was wrong.
I do have the required screenshots available for the last turns, but won't be able to do the analysis before Thursday.

I don't think it would hurt to send a variation of the following to both Templars & Imperio:

Templars / Imperio,

We understand that you see us as major competition, and are having your shot at taking us down. We believe that continued war on our continent is handing the game to Pal - they already have Education(!?) and are well on the way to an uncontested Liberalism, they have more cities than any other civ and still have space to expand.

Assuming that we cannot pursuade you to conclude our war and ally against them, we would like to ask / propose the following:

Close Borders with Pal

They receive a substantial chunk of their income from Great-Lighthouse-fueled Intercontinental Trade Routes, without which their research levels may return towards the levels of the rest of us. You should be able to maintain your own Intercontinental routes with the cties of Rabbits and Bananas.
