Yes, negotiations could take some time.

I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

In case it's still an issue, in the early days of Civ4 & "no cheating" we discovered that the order the operating system lists files can affect whether asset locked games pass the CRC check. So, are any of the players having difficulty loading the game playing with Windows set to a language other than English, which would have a different sort order? Anyone playing on windows within a mac, linux, or VMWare? Any pattern for XP vs Vista users?
some day I'll put a catchy phrase here

I have copied this into the trouble shooting thread.

Yes, my Windows (Vista) is indeed non-English. But how would I go about correcting this problem, other than installing an English version of Vista?

                        • I'm probably too late to play this... won't have time to start before 9th October, but I might play it for fun anyway.

                          • I don't think it has anything to do with the order of files.

I'm running XP in English, a vanilla setup on a Dell laptop.

I was running retail Civ4/Steam BTS with Solver's unofficial patch when I found this forum. I uninstalled Civ and BTS (becuase I didn't know how to revert to 3.03), reinstalled Civ 4 from the CD and re-downloaded BTS from Steam (it came as 3.03).

I then copied the save game file into the save game directory (I didn't know where to find it, so I started a game against the AI, saved the first turn, and copied the tournament start file into the folder I found that save in).

...and I get the protected assets error. I'll try to uninstall Civ and BTS again, manually delete the folders to make sure something in a save folder or the like isn't causing the error, reinstall, try again, and post how it goes.

But hopefully 3.13 will fix this!

                            • I currently have Solvers patch installed, so I wasn't able to load it.

Assuming the patch gets released in the next day or so will I by able to load the game with the new patch. (I realize I can't submit the game) Or should I uninstall Solver patch?

2nd question how do I uninstall Solvers very nice patch?

                              TIA

                              • You could just uninstall BtS and re-install it - then patch to 3.03.

                                That'll do it.

Just make sure you delete all BtS folders in "My Games" before you re-install.
