no blue marble, no solver patch, regular old cd version of the game.

so i started another game, and then tried to load the league game. it did the same thing but just exited to the start screen, not to desktop.

My download copy from Direct2Drive with v.3.03 installed on Vista runs the tournament game flawlessly so far (into the game at 1540AD).

Couple of things - firstly can you PM me your email address - I will send you a couple of saves to try when I get tonight - see if we can work out what is going on.

Secondly - when you patched did you do it via the game - or download from somewhere else? Not that I have heard of this causing any problems - just trying to eliminate all possible variances.....

pm'd you. i patched through the game. also, i have downloaded and played other save files with no issue before. i tried the latest file from apolyton university (which is BtS) and had no issue. the only diffence is that the AU file did not give the 'protected to ensure assets' message. maybe i can try a version without this?

I'd recommend a complete erase and reinstall... That's the only way to be sure there's no file where it shouldn't be, especially if you've tried mods...

Possibly - but I will email jbp26 a couple of saves generated on my machine tonight, before we recommend that course of action........

Mine wont start either. I have three mods.

Cultural decay which isnt in a mod folder so that shouldnt be the cause.

Dales Combat Mod in C:\Documents and Settings\Spencer\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\MODS - never used BTW

the road to war in C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods - also never played

How did you guys buy Civ4 and BtS? This might matter. As in: Civ4 retail + Warlords retail + BtS retail. Or, Civ4 retail + BtS retail. Or, Civ4 Gold + BtS retail.

I can't get the save to work either... I get the "protected to ensure no modified assets" warning and the game quits.

I bought the game on Steam, the BTS + Civ IV pack (no Warlords). No mods.
