                        • Well, Paddy the big differences in this one are that:

                          1. France has not surrendered to the Germans, (and actually still have 2 cities in France)

                          2. USSR declared war on Germany early.

                          3. Spain joined the AXIS powers early.

                          4. Turkey / Protogual / Sweeden declared war on both Germany and USSR.

                          5. UK kicked AXIS out of Egypt early. [In large part, because the Germans did not back up the Italains there]

                          6. Allies landed in occuplied France several years early.

                          --
All of Spain's combat have been against Protogual, and in fact the UK keeps signing peace treaties with Spain followed by Spain redeclaring war on UK.

Yes indeed. Loads of fun, even if the outcome was already decided at the beginning.

The scenario has some tweaks to each nation that you learn only by playing it. So if any of us play this again as the same nation, we would have a big advantage over new-comers.

Also, there are really only three important powers: Germany, USSR, England. The others must rely on stronger allies or die. The situation in France shows this—the only city they got back was actually taken from Germany by the English.

                            • Yes, but it's kind of difficult to completely wipe out the French civ because of their posessions in North Africa and the middle east in addition to France itself.
And as long as they have any cities left, their allies can take back occuplied towns from the enemy and then gift them over.

Spain's main protection from both Germany & UK will tend to be that these two countries are too busy fighting each other. So as long as they don't annoy either of these countries too much, they'll probably be left alone.

There is one kind of bug in this scenerio, France starts in the only WW govt but is not in a locked war. Conquently, the WW doesn't come into play. The only disorder France gets is from having it's luxaries and cities disconnected from the trade network.
I'd sugest locking the French into a war with Italy in addition to the locked war between Germany & UK / minor allied powers. (minor ally powers are in a locked alliance with UK)

This would allow the French to have the WW problems they do at the start of Napolonic conquest while still allowing France to surrender to the Germans.

                              • We'd have an even bigger advantage if we were to play a civ that is fighting a newcomer playing our current civ.
