    • I think the whole tank thing is a little rude. They get slaughtered as soon as they get out of a city.

Someone seems to forget that Russian tanks moved much better on snow, than did there German counterparts. Even if the drivers were less trained, and drank more vodka. But Russia has a kind of air superiority at the moment, go figure?

      • As to the Infantry, it just is not draftable, only Riflemen are. So, once you got the tech upgrade, you have to build them the hard way (which is kind of stupid). One would have to add a separate kind of Infantry just for the Germans (which would be basically the same, just without drafting enabled), and let the normal one be drafted at will by everyone else.

Uhm, I would like to remind you, that you attacked in June. German Panzers should be in Moscow before winter. (Famous last words. )

(I think you could just make the Tank a little cheaper than the Panzer in this scenario. This is not a direct help, but it would make sense, providing the quantities the Allies had in the real war.)

But they did have that, only not at the beginning. Google on "Il-2".

(I am using "SS Panzer" instead of "Modern Armor". I also named the units accordingly. )
        Fights this turn:

        France:
        • Bordeaux. I Armee Korps attacks: 2 Infantry destroyed. II Armee Korps attacks: 1 Tank destroyed, Bordeaux captured. So much for continental France.

        Endland:
        • Brest 6. Artillery barrage: HP taken. 1 Panzer attack: 1 Infantry destroyed, 1 Worker captured.
        • Brest 3. Artillery barrage: HP taken. 2 Panzer attacks: 2 Infantry destroyed. 4 SS Panzer attacks: 3 Infantry destroyed, 1 SS Panzer retreated.
        • Stavanger. Naval bombardment: Fighter damaged.

        USSR:
        • Kisiven 98. Artillery barrage: HP taken. 1 Panzer attack: 1 Tank destroyed.
        • Kisinev 66. Artillery barrage: HP taken. 1 SS Panzer attack: 1 Rifleman destroyed.

Ahh, that explains it. Not that it matters.

Yes, as much as I am enjoying the game. I don't think it's holding too close to the real Russian situation. I can't see Russia turning around and winning the war if the German army is sitting at the gates of Moscow. The manufacturing power of Russia out near the Ural mountains doesn't even exist in the scenario. And as for those record cold winters.....

          Good game anyways....

Do you think attacking later would have made a difference? I can't see there been much of a difference, except that Germany probably would have controlled Spain.

I think it does, big time. The numbers won WW II, not technology. Without the Allies being able to draft, the Germans still retain the tech advantage, with no numbers for the other side to make a stand.

I had another Idea, one that might really twist things, making this more interesting. The cost to make Rails should be upped by a lot (quardupled, or something like that). This way even the fast Panzers would not be such a menace, because of the sheer size of terrain that nobody would be able to Railroad in any reasonable time (no instant counter-offensive, except for the core territory). Also, this would make strategic bombing more useful, giving the English a real something to bash the Germans with. Too bad CIV is nearly out, or it would be interesting to try this...

Do you think it is over yet? Mind you I do not know your reserves (or lack thereof ), so I am not so sure. If you manage to get MAs, the USSR should become a very hard nut to crack (see my defensive use of Panzers -- you could do the same, and better due to the large distances). The qeustion is, how many can you (and England...) pull out of your hat, before I can upgrade all Panzers to MAs, and roll over you. (MAs do not require Artillery support to survive offensive battles agains Infantry, Panzers do.)

Well, the early push into Russian territory did require some Panzers to be taken away from France. But the main difference would be in Fighters. Had you not forced me to defend my air space, I would have had a much easier time shooting the B17s down, allowing me to celar France faster (easier coodrination of attacks).

            • No, I don't think the game is over by any means. No doubt Germany has the upper hand. I think I will struggle, as I have all game, to be on the offensive. However, I think I have the resources to put up a good defence. At least until the English re-group, or the technology balance evens out.

I like your railway idea. I also think that it would be nice to be able to stratigicaly bomb city improvements, or even trade routes. At the moment it seems you are supplying enough oil for the entire German army through one port where I have air and navel control.
