All French battles on my turn were either inside French cultural boundary [Battle near Tunesita / half battles near Marsellis] or in netural territory one tile outside French cultural boundary [other half of battle near Marsellis].

So you do not distinguish between France and colonies? Anyway, you put them on the wrong border, as aptly demonstrated by German troops.
