No no, GoW and Lux don't have contacts with Lego and Vox, as those two civs would have said something. Lux and GoW are both behind us in techs anyhow, and a careful trace back to all of their techs reveals that they have not traded with anyone who is not on this continent.

Lux I'm somewhat suspicious of, as they seem to rely more on trading tech (very clever) than researching it. They seem to be setting themselves up as excellent middlemen, all they need to do is keep the two sides (Gow & us) antagonistic so that we won't trade with each other.

The reason they wanted a 2 for 1 was because we had nothing to give them for Iron Working except Alphabet, so they wanted to get Writing for a song, and then later give us 2 techs for 1 to even the whole deal out.

I am writing to advise you that we have now reached the point where we will have Writing in 10 turns.

Can you give me an idea of how long till you have Horseback Riding? Whether this be via trade with GoW as rumored, or by research.

We would like to start working out the particulars internally so we can make the propsed trade possible with you, assuming things fall into place.

On a side note, how are other matters with Lux? Unreliable rumors have indicated some barbarians have given you a tussle - I hope this ended well should it have been true, for our friends in the North, (strong friends make us only stronger- ). We have been blessed not to have been accosted by the nasty uncivilized men in white - "the barbarians" - too badly. Otherwise, things are moving nicely in the South. The seas are splendid. I hope you will vacation at our lovely spa near Madrid soon.

Call me crazy, but I trust Nimitz so far. Maybe its because I desperatly want my ambassadorship to mean something... (thanks Arnelos, now you have even done my only task ) no, Legoland is alone, at least as far as they know. I am almost sure of it. I am also quite sure that Lux does not have contact with Lego or Vox. I have talked a good deal with Aleion, who is ambassador to Vox on the Lux team, and he has assured me of this. I trust him as much, if not more than, Nimitz.

As to whether or not Lux is playing us.... this is a possibility. They put a great deal of import on their foreign policy with us, perhaps too much so.

I have no opinion or intelligence on GoW.

This is a suggestion for the next message to GoW :

We have examined with due attention your needs expressed at length in your message dated January 20.

It seems that you should not worry too much since two of them will be satisfied as soon as the Mapmaking technology will be discovered. You have apparently forgotten that the trading of maps is not allowed before. Anyway, if we discover it when you still need it, we will not object to selling it at market price.

As for trust, it is not a tradable material, and we are really sorry that you miss it; but it does not exist between organization or institutions, only between people, and as I am writing to you as an ambassador, member of the FAM, I really cant help you.

I have also to inform you, that in order to further improve our relationships with all civilizations in reducing the occurence of ... misunderstandings, the Ropleplay team has issued an edict that, from now on, all trades and agreements of any kind committing our civilization must be in writing and signed by all parties.

In this upcoming trade with Lux for Horseback Riding and giving them Writing, are we going to attempt to make sure it doesn't get traded to GoW?

If we are trying to lock them out of having our techs, we need the support of the other teams. So far, I haven't seen much in the way of attempting to drum up support for blatantly or covertly stalling GoW's research in this way.

And then their is also the question of how do we get the maximum from Writing. If we give it to Lux prior to a time when ND might be able to offer us something for it, Lux may trade it with ND for things they need. What about this?

Hello Friend!

Things have been well with Lux. We have not seen any barbarians, so do not rely on those rumours.

It is hard to tell when we will have mastered those beasts you call "horses". They seem pretty stubborn, but our scientists think we can ride them after feeding them a sleeping potion. You get the point - we are not quite there yet. The Minister of Science has assured me that we will have it in about 10 turns, so I think we'll be ready to receive you and your written scrolls by then.

I hope to learn of the location of Madrid in the future. This Spa offer sounds very tempting...

Anyway, I must be getting back to business. We're going to found some new cities in the north, just to avoid future attacks by the White Men who live there. This currently needs my attention.

We are boycotting gow? if so, when the trade goes down we can ask for a stipulation that they not trade Writing and we won't trade H-back riding

For trading techs, timing will always be an issue, Senor ruby. So, we need to make our trades so that we can hit as many parties all at once to make sure we are the one's selling it to all who need it.

From what I gather, GoW and Lux are each individually working on Horseback Riding, and both of them want us to trade Writing for it.

I'm siding with Lux on this trade. We got Iron Working for a bargain and we're paying them back, in a sense, by trading Writing for Horseback Riding ... a tech I told Trip I wasn't very interested in.

Unless someone can show me evidence that Lux is actually researching something else and lieing to us about Horseback Riding, I will take them at their word.

As such, I think we should tell them very soon that we discovered Mysticism from a Goodie Hut, and offer to trade/sell it to them so that they don't have to research it themselves. Perhaps we should see if they're more interested in Mysticism that Writing and trade that INSTEAD to them.
