In this post-squid era I have decided to renovate this tavern for the needs of the modern consumer. The tavern will be closed, but renovations won't take too long. You can always pop by and have a chat when the renovations aren't finished yet; you just can't have a beer. That shouldn't be much of a problem, right? Not having alcoholic beverages isn't the end of the world... for most of us...

However, I think you should know that the squid market is not at all letting up (except at the Mitchells, where they seem to be characteristically doing nothing at all...you should probably stop buying their stuff because they make so little of it... ). Indeed, the squid business is still here, and we are still producing for Iberian Delights as well.

Besides that, squids will always be remembered as the symbol of progress. The meal which brought us into civilization. Helped us at least, Togas did all the great work of course. But the days of virtual squid monopoly are over, so I will make my menu more varied.

In a sense, but El Squid Company is still a monopoly. We hold all real squid. Mitchell produces nothing, and sells nothing. He can't continue this for long. El Squid sells squid, all forms of seafood, and beef. And our principal supplier will remain Iberian Delights.

It is so, I must confess. Daily, my father's life is coming near to it's zenith in a miserable way, and for what? No one can prove that he was praying to evil spirits. He did not even give those prayers! He asked the High Priest to deliver them, and if they want to accuse the High Priest of praying to demons, they've got to be kidding. Senor Mitchell is, I think, trying to get us all bumped off so as he can...Oh. Thanks for the sherry.

Floris, what worries me is that this trial is not just. I feel that someone behind the scenes wants to kill Hernan the Elder, my father. There is no evidence that he prayed to evil spirits. Indeed, there is no real identification of Thug's body. My father was always a loyal and obedient servant of the government - no man contributed half as much money for the common good as he. Also, he paid for the recruiting of the Explorer's Guild, he bought the land for the Marketplace, the commercial center of Madrid, and he attempted more than any other to preserve Spain's glorious history. Now, in return for his loyalty, he is being slowly murdered daily.

I trust that Togas shall have mercy shortly, in my heart I know that he is sympathetic. I speak no treason, nor has my father, but the blood of my father cries for justice, and we need to petition for his life. Perhaps a good number of men of the tribe can come forward and ask for his pardon. Perhaps that will convince His Greatness.
