Funny, UnO did not post in the forum that the deal was officially on, I guess that was a bit of misunderstanding on our part.

Unfortunately I already played the 510 turn so I can't send it until the next. Also one more thing, have you guys agreed on both Chem-Physics AND Metallurgy-Magnetism? I think that would be a good trade.

Hi MZ,

I got a PM from UnO saying that the Chem-Physics deal was on, and that Chemistry was being sent this turn. However, we didn't recieve it so we're a bit unsure where we stand and can't start the research on Physics.

If we hold off research for another turn, we run the risk of not recieving Chemistry next turn either. We have made several attempts so far to do a deal for Chemistry - all of which came to nothing - so you will understand our concern.

We can't hold off on Chemistry any longer, so we've had to start researching it ourselves. We'd have liked the Chem-Physics and Metallurgy-Magnetism, but we needed Chem last turn at the latest for that. It's a shame, as UnO's message to us agreeing the deal arrived 3 hours before you played 500AD, which would have been the right time for you to send us Chemistry.

I think the only way you can now get something for your Chem is to take some cash/incense from us for the remainder of our research, but that would likely be hard to agree on and arrange.

So the next likely deal is Physics for Metallurgy. What do you think of that?

Ok, some last minute negotiation:

To be honest we were (are) very interested in keeping the original two trades that we had planned. To GoW it will be very inefficient to end up having to research Magnetism in the same way that GS will find it innefficient to do Chemistry.

I understand that GS has now spent 1 turn researching Chemistry so we would like to propose the following. We will send GS Chemistry accepted this turn (I currently have the save) in exchange for Physics once GS finishes it. To compensate for the 1 lost turn of research, GoW will, when finished with Metallurgy (in 5-6 turns IIRC) will dedicate one full turn towards taxes and send to GS the monetary equivalent of the research that GS spent last turn.

That should compensate the lost turn for GS and enable both of our teams to obtain a tech which it would otherwise have had to research separately.

I hope this agreement is satisfactory and can rightfully make up for this lost turn.

It is good, as always, to hear from you, MZ.

Your offer appears spirited and principled, and perhaps some indication that this is a genuine mistake, and not another example of GoW's famed skill at manipulating GS during negotiations that, we are interested to note, is now a matter of historical record.

There is a slight balance issue. Chemistry is 60, Physics 64 =100 beakers on this level. We've used our gold to research Chemistry at deficit, spending 300 beakers.

Even disregarding the depreciated cost of Chemistry, we would therefore seek 400g to compensate. This might be more than one turn of your max gold, but it would enable the first deal and pave the way for the second.

One other thing - Lego mustn't get hold of Physics unless they research it themselves. 20 turns should be enough. I think that's mutually understood, and we'd respect a reciprocal NDA on Chemistry.

Thanks for the message - excellent news! No, I didn't recieve the earlier PM, but I got this one, OK. Looks like we're in business then.

The payment arrangements are fine, and we look forward to sending you Physics in a few turns time. Chem NDA starts this turn (T128 : 530AD for 20 turns), Physics NDA starts on delivery to GoW for 20 turns.

Hmm, did you get my last PM? I said we could send you 300g 2 turns after we get Metallurgy and then the other 100g when we complete both deals (as well as the difference for Magnetism which would be another 100g).

At the most I guess we can give you 400g upfront but it would have to be 3 turns after metallurgy instead of 2.

I was talking with some RPers the other day who were asking if we could set up some tech trade and I was surprised that GS hadn't offered them Chemistry. Then I remembered that you didn't get the next-to-last PM I sent you when we sealed the tech deal.

Anyway, in summary, in that PM I was telling you that we could get the 300g in 2 turns if another civ helped us out, obviously you guys don't want Lego to get Physics so we asked ND if they were willing to help and they said yes as long as they could be traded that tech by us with a reduced NTA (say, 5 or 10 turns for example instead of 20). Obviously the NTA with other teams would apply to both GoW and ND. In that PM I mentioned this and said that it would only be fair if we offered GS the same limited NTA with regards to Chemistry (so you can trade with RP).

Well, it's your call. We actually might even scrape up the 300g only one turn after Metallurgy, instead of 2, with ND help.

btw, amazing how fast the save is being played... I might actually get to see the end of all this

Hi there, hope all is going well. First of all this is a PM is strictly Aggie's opinion. Metallurgy is coming and next will be Military Tradition. To avoid the unfortunate mistakes of the past, I want to have the Tech deal decided ahead of time.
This deal is momentus in the sense that it will put us almost(or perhaps all the way) into a new era. So lets gets this one ironed out. coordinating research helps us all and I look forward to working with Gs on research well into the modern era. Like I mentioned earlier I am only a concerned citizen, however I am determined to get this right. So unofficially I suggest you PM MZ,unortho with tech proposals and I'll do my best to get a good deal worked out. If I can be off any other assistance please just ask.

Oh - and the map. We refused it the first time, thinking it an error, and advised MZ accordingly. It appeared again, so we took it, thinking you might be offended if we turned it down again. I hope we're not going to hear that in the PM we 'never recieved' it was suggested that the map would represent part-payment on the trade.

We established an embassy with Lego, and would like to share the Intel with you. It may not be news to the GoW, but we were very surprised to see that ND are apparantly supplying Lego with FOUR luxuries. Also, Lego is going at 90% tax. That raised some eyebrows too.

Uno replied : "Certainly news to me, personally."

Another, unnamed, unofficial GoW Source, spoke of the possibility of 3-way alliance against Lego with a very small window, between Magnetism and Nationalism/Steam Power".

First, sorry to hear about the trouble you're having with the save. Let's hope it can be fixed, the game's too interesting to stop now.

So, by virtue of our mutual and enlightened trade dealing, we are both rapidly approaching the Industrial Era.

Have you considered yet the possibility of our civs doing a deal on Industrial Tech? Perhaps a 3-way arrangement with ND would be possible. Let us know what you think.
