  • Help!

924! I can't even remember the last time I got a freight bonus that big.

    [excitedly loads game]
What the... Civ displays the overview/dialogue boxes, but the map box only shows the default brown Civilization Seal screen!?!

      • Yes that happened once when I loaded the game. I managed to get in by reloading from that screen as the Game Menu is accessible.

Trade to America is worthwhile because of the greater distance and their Democratic Government eliminating corruption. I left 3 freights in a fort on that continent and another transport is just west of Siouxland on its way over.

          • That's a weird one. I've never seen that before, Stray. My first thought was that someone had mistakenly used MGE... but then it wouldn't have loaded at all, I s'pose.

I hope [1]'s fix solved it for you.

              • A world of freakin' barbarians

More work has interfered (freakin' barbarians), but I may be able to drag my computer in and squeeze some Civ time in to finish this off. Otherwise it will be Saturday evening before I'm done
@SG(2) Refrigeration again? No other choice, then?

As opposed to Japan, where salt and wine are in demand? That's quite possible, as the Japs are in their first love, Monarchy, until they get to their greatest love, Fundies. That, and they're at war with us. (freakin' barbarians)

English cities would have good trade value but somebody pissed them off. (Freakin' barbarians… yeah, I mean the English and whoever done it)

                  • Well said, Admiral. That is truely funny. I imagined Stray surfing along swinging a sword and screaming ..."off with their friggin heads."

This was not a good week to stop sniffin glue, was it Stray?? (Pardon the massively mixed up images/references.) Sounds like some serious chillin would be good. Don't let the "illegitimates" get you down.

Don't worry, SG(2), I just had the expression lodged in my mind. You know, you get to feeling that way about certain coworkers or clients and you just can't shake it off. That includes those who (harumph!) lowered our reputation unacceptably. Unbecoming to the glory of the Republic of Iberia.

BM, I never was any good on a skateboard. I managed to scrape myself up enough one time that I never bothered to go back to it. Bicycles are better and safer. (Damning with faint praise on that last point, eh?)

I doubt I'd be riding a surfboard, if I did I wouldn't be swinging a sharp object that would be far more dangerous to myself than anyone else. I just waited for our scientists to invent rifles. As the phone commercial used to say, "Reach out and touch someone."

The United Nations in Seville is incomplete—I thought I had two more Freight, but no. I leave it to my successor to either rush it for 400 or wait a turn for a couple more Food Freight. I've left all the tweaking for 1690 as well.

There's an Oil Freight wandering around America, waiting for demand (since the multiplier is huge). Obviously I haven't gifted the right tech to make it happen yet, but I was waiting for UN to do more gifting. Oil is demanded in Madrid, so the Pamplona Oil is awaiting the Cadiz Txprt. The Seville Txprt is headed to Souix or wherever.

I stopped off to investigate continent #29 on the way to America, thinking there might be Ruskies there. They must be on the next continent over.

There's an army of Engineers to clear up pollution. It's an Institute course in city management if Mass Transport is built before Superhighways. Just watch the trade rocket with those new roads

Taking a quick look before heading out, i was wondering why we had rushed Mass Transit in Bilbao this turn - I'm sure he was just incrementally buying it . As for Engineers, I'm a bit concerned with the decision made to leave 2 engineers doing work with a barb frigate is in range of them both in Saragossa waters.

anyway, off to church for now - will analyze further this afternoon

                              • Defending my lunacy

I prefer to build MT first for large cities because MT reduces population-based pollution and Suphwy increases population-based pollution, right? Or is the increase automatic with the Automobile advance?

With 15 skulls in Madrid and 18 in Bilbao they were starting to get 1 pollution per turn. Valencia had managed to generate pollution twice in my round, but I guess MT before Suphwy was overkill on a size 12 city. However, SCG is free to change that one to Suphwy before hitting end of turn.

Every turn pollution sits on a worked tile costs arrows and shields. Engrs should be out building things, not cleaning up messes. If you don't allow pollution you don't lose production and you gain Engr-wrought tile benefits sooner (especially road/RR connection bonuses and hidden specials).
