  • I read *everything* in this forum.
    Yeah, activity levels are dropping..
But this is a hard time I think, at least in schools, so expect it to return to former at around Xmas till new year!

I will make a report about future research in a few minutes (as I'm the Lord of Progress)

Units should be pulled back, this I agree, also it'd be good that that lone MW near Spartan rover should be either evacuated or moved to East.

    Preferences:

We care ONLY about Angel's preferences, as noone else has expressed friendliness!

And we care ONLY if they do not interfere with our preferences!

    • The northernmost mind worm is in a tactically very sound position. If the Hive decides to invade us, that worm can buy us a turn or two and destroy some units. I say we leave it there and if too many units come through, it dies, but not before inflicting considerable damage.

The Spartan rover is in position to attack it - it should be at least moved so it can't be reached by that rover in 1 turn.

The Official Report of Lord of Progress

Giving our current situation with prerequisities in place to research Ecological Engineering and our previous discussions regarding tech beelining, I suggest that next tech to be researched is Ecological Engineering.
If lady Fortune doesn't smile to my comrades, our smart scientists we will be glad to redirect our research to Ethical Calculus, as that is also one very important tech to us, but could be traded for if the opportunity arises.
If we're very unlucky, or if we're sure we will get that tech from friendly Data Angels (ask this to our diplomats), we can also switch to Doctrine: Flexibility next, and then to some other technology, after Data Angels transfer it to us.

        • Yeah, Xmas boosted the activity level in the last ACDG as well.

          • I misidentified what I meant to refer to - we have two worms both equally far north. One is on the east and is in a tactically very strong position as a warning, or even to kill stragglers and probe teams that might try to filter down to us. One is on the west and is isolated, though still alive thanks to fungus. We might want to pick that one up while we still can.

            • We need to choose a new tech - since we are going to gear for abttle, HEC seems reasonable - it will give us Plasma armor, and is the other prereq for SynthFossil Fuels

              • HEC is reasonably, but when the turn comes in, I'll check the possibilities and post them here.

                • Our research options are:

                  Doc: Flex
                  Eco Eng
                  Prog Psych
                  Poly Soft
                  SotHB
                  HEC

I would advocate EcoEng, as being able to use boreholes will greatly boost our industrial capacity, and Environmental Economics will then be one step away. Plasma Steel defense will not perform much better than Synthmetal against impact weapons. On the other hand, being one step away from Synth Fossil Fuels and two away from D:AP is nice. HEC is the only other viable option, IMO.

Unfortunately, our tech cost soars to 398, and we produce just 21 labs/turn right now (soon to increase, though).

                  • I am leaning towards EcoEng myself. All the Spartans posturing is starting to make me think it might all be a bluff. So delaying HEC might not be the worst idea. Plus the added industial capacity of boreholes would help us with any defense we may need to put up.

We WILL get HEC and other military tech from Hive!

HEC is out of question then. Another option is to choose Doc: Flex and redirect to Initiative, getting us MCC and one of prereqs for D:AP. What do you think about this option before we have decided?

                          • I don't value the MCC very highly, and the relative benefits of boreholes and fast ships are incomparable. Boreholes just win, given our position.

                                My dear Lord Illuminatus!

Why are you promoting military techs so much? It seems to me that some kind of paranoia has dimmed your vision, as we have no need for military techs at the moment and if that need arises, we can always get that tech from Yang.

Let me explain why I think there's no threat:

1.To West we have friendly and too weak to attack Angels.
2.To South we have the South Pole.
3.To East we have quite a bunch of sea and 2 AIs on a continent too far to even make them consider landing any force on ours, and giving that they have no reason to do it and no skills in doing it..
4.To North we have Hive who poses a little threat right now, but which can be eliminated very quickly after building Sea Former (sunk the landbridge)..

So what are you afraid of?

Do you think that Spartans are so stupid to come for us when they need to defend their homes at first.
Hive is more liklely to be going for Spartans (due to small distance) or Morganites (due to their might in charts)?

And finally - after we get EcoEng, and particularly Env Eco and BioEng, we can decide where to go next, because those techs give us great strenght, even military (considered building Neural Amplifier for native armies?).

PS - we're going to get Doc:Flex from trade anyway.
