  • Plan of Action for 2148

    Plant two bases, move two other CPs to base sites.

    Possibly hurry some rec commons if the price is right and b-drones demand it.

    Continue forming.

    Probe Yang; move the unity foil towards Yang's southern peninsula to pick up our northwestern worm.

    Move spore launcher south, move a probe team north towards Yang.

    • Could you provide map data, dear CT?

      I think I have no addons for orders, as everything is quite clear and I trust in your terraforming abilities!

      • I don't think we gained map info last turn, so the only difference is in the positions of some of our units. Still, I'll construct a map when I have some time.

                • Because I didn't pay enough attention when playing the turn. Just now, I loaded the end-turn save, corrected our diplomatic offer, and sent that save directly to the Angel turn player.

                  Reasons this should be legitimate:
                  It's still before our 48-hour deadline, so I could have held the turn until others could review it, and only post it as late as possible. I posted it earlier to try to move the game along faster.

                  I can forget for an hour to offer something to allies. Someone in the SMAC world could not forget for a year to offer something to allies, especially if it's their job, and especially given reminders.

                  Adding diplomacy offers has no effect on the start of the Angels' turn, and since they very likely haven't moved any units in their turn, replacing the previous 2148 -> Angels with this one in no way allows new attempts at random events, like pods.

                    • I'll give it to you this time. Since all you did was the diplomacy, I'll allow it this time, just beacuse I'd rather not delay the game any more. Don't let this become a regular thing.

                      • Uhoh, correcting turns? I would suggest we don't make it happen again. I don't like it at all. But I will shutup now.

                        • Well, I'm hardly happy with forgetting to do something I said I would. The solution I implemented, and Method accepted, is that I opened our end-turn save, fixed our diplomatic offer, and sent that to the Angels. Given all the information we have, this is fair, because nothing not under our complete control changed between the Angels' original turn and their new turn, that we have any knowledge of.

                            Move native life towards land bridge, possibly except the spore launcher.

                            Rush rec commons where needed most; avoid population loss to starvation while also trying to squeeze out as many minerals as possible.

                            More terraforming. Question: should we construct a road north of our new northern base? Another priority is to watch our coast for either Spartan covert ops or Uni/PK scouts, with sensor arrays.

                              So you see a row of fungus blocking approach to our northern base?
                              It has only 1 hole - where the river starts.
                              It is the point where hive rovers will be running, avoiding the fungus!

                              To fulfill also our secondary defense plan we must do such:
                              1.construct a road to tile right to S from river beginning (rainy rolling tile)
                              2.plant forest there - it will make the defensive wall complete.
                              3.plant sensor there - it will allow us to see entire battlefield of our secondary defense plan.
                              4.Plant forest in the beginning of river (but no road!)

                              Road should be constructed like:
                              1.rocky tile NW.
                              2.rolling tile NW to above.
                              3.rolling tile W to above (last one)

                              With such scheme we gain:
                              1.a road from which we can attack ANY position in the fungus wall
                              2.a road which is not easy to take (and roam right to the city) - 1 rocky and 1 forest square + sensor is not that little (+ 75% def.).
                              3.sensor which sees how enemy is approaching (every last move - it covers all the approach route, see closely and you'll notice the same!).
                              4.Uninterrupted wall which will tamper enemy's movement an allow us to jump in for a fast kill.

                              also - consider planting a forest to W from base, to avoid enemy coming in from that location (if it manages to pass defensive wall).

                              So optimal layout for that base's territory would be:

                              FWN
                              XFF
                              NRR
                              NFR
                              FNB
                              FNO

                              Where:
                              X = Forest+Road+Sensor
                              W = Forest(pure!) on river start
                              F = fungus
                              N = nothing
                              R = road
                              O = sensor + road
                              B = base (USE THIS FOR A COORDINATE EVALUATION POINT)

                              So, if we make this, we'll have anoter 2 defensive walls:
                              1.Fungus + forest with sensor watching it all
                              2.Forest + rocky squares with sensor (that behind base) watching it all.

                              With such a defense we've got no prob to hold off Hive's advance (just need a pair of synthmetal sentinels)!
