Union June 1863

Jefferson City and Charleston West Virginia captured. Four Neutral Militia rounded up. One CSA Cavalry unit threatening the line between Memphis and Corinth is destroyed.

After the destruction of the Federal picket line south east of Nashville it becomes apparent that a possible Rebel counter attack against the new Union supply lines is in the offing. Reinforcements are sent to counter any Rebel spoiling attack and secure the line.

All other fronts are quiet.

The scenario is now half over. The Union has 30 turns left to conquer the south.

One yankee regular and one engineer destroyed NW of Decatur.

One Cavalry unit destroyed south-east of Montgomery and Federal troops encircle the city. Looks like they escaped their jailers

The Rebel Cavalry raiders are destroyed north of Nashville after destroying a precious engineering unit



Milwaukee recaptured from the Sioux again. It looks like the Federal government seriously underestimated the threat posed by these savage warriors!

Lexington and Springfield Missouri are both captured. Four Neutral Militia taken prisoner.



On the railroad line between Corinth and Decatur a Zouave unit is destroyed.

To the south-west of Harrisonburg two Confederate Conscript units are destroyed for the loss of three US Conscript units.

South-west of Alexandria one Confederate Volunteer unit and one of Cavalry are destroyed without loss to the Federal forces.

Stonewall springs the trap!

The yankee army surrounding Montgomery, Alabama was badly mauled by simultaneous Confederate offensives from east and west, led by General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson. The encirclement of the Montgomery garrison has been broken. Union forces lost 7 rgts. of regular infantry, with no loss to the rebel army. Jackson's HQ at Selma issued the following statement: "The yankee Army of the Chattahoochee has been whipped, although not destroyed. It is encircled by our forces and will be hunted down to the last soldier. God Bless the Confederate States of America."

Meanwhile, the Army of Tennessee has destroyed 2 yankee infantry rgts. south of Nashville.

In the east, two Confederate divisions of the Army of Northern Virginia slipped out of yankee traps set for them in the hills west of Charlottesville.

A CSA Conscript unit north of Decatur is destroyed.

Madison Arkansas is attacked and cleared of enemy troops. 3 Conscripts and 2 Militia killed.

Yes, indeed. Union armies were typically named after rivers in their theatre of operations. In this case, your army has been operating in the vicinity of the Chattahoochee River, which runs from Atlanta, Ga. to Apalachicola, Fl. I thought it was an ideal name for your wandering expeditionary force.

Those boys are doing a grand job tying down Rebel forces deep in their own back yard. In hindsight they might have been better deployed, but now they are there they intend to cause as much chaos as possible!
