Union September 1863
The last Confederate River Fort north of Memphis is destroyed for the loss of three River Gunboats. Madison in Arkansas is captured after the newly formed Rebel Conscript unit is destroyed. For the first time Rebel Irregulars are seen but they are foolish enough to stay near the town and all four are destroyed. Many of the freed slaves enlist in the US Army. In the south the Army of the Chattahoochie kills and loses a Conscript. It also appears the Confederates have spotted the Army of the Tensaw north of Mobile. Whilst looking at my map I noticed a small town NW of Mobile called Agricola

Another rgt of yankee conscripts is hunted down in southern Alabama. Meanwhile, the CSA ironclad "Stonewall" has sunk a frigate and several other units at the mouth of Mobile Bay. It is suspected that they may have been reinforcements intended for the so-called "Army of the Tensaw", now wandering around somewhere north of Mobile. The Confederate southern command considers that a few good ole boys and a couple of bloodhounds should be able to track down the rest.Attached Files

Union October 1863
October is a month of filled with feverish activity on the northern side of the lines, but little fighting. The northern press if full of news of a major Federal push to end the war and the populace is filled with a grim determination to get the job done once and for all.Attached Files

Confederates Nov 1863
A Union rgt. of conscripts is routed along the Meridian-Mobile line. A yankee frigate is sunk some 60 miles off the South Carolina coast, by the ironclad John C. Calhoun.
Meanwhile, the remnants of the yankee Army of the Chattahoochie are surrounded along the banks of the Choctowhatchee River near the Alabama-Florida state line. Similarly, the "Army (brigade?) of the Tensaw" is cut off between the Confederate army to the north and the blockade by the CS Navy.
Southern newspapers are scornful of the yankee press and it's "news of a major Federal push to end the war".
The Richmond Cotton Picker says, "Do the Yankees think that while they are preparing a major push, that we have been idle? The Confederate Army has never been stronger!"
The Chattanooga Choo Choo asks southerners to "get on board with a Confederate victory!"
And the Texas Times headline says, "Tick-Tock, Yankees!"Attached FilesLast edited by techumseh; May 18, 2010, 01:58.

Thanks a lot for leaving the cursor hovering over my Milwaukee shame I decided that manifest destiny was a crock and that the Indians were entitled to some land. Besides, every time I tried to evict them they just seemed to come back. Giving them Milwaukee seems to have pacified them
Playing the turn now.
EDIT 1: I take the bit about them being pacified back. We just lost Quincy which was pretty well garrisoned. These Sioux are a real menace and seem to strike from nowhere!
EDIT 2: I would like to make the argument again for more Engineers. It just takes way too long for them to repair a section of destroyed RR. I remember in my other game as the Confederates that the Slave units were even more painfully slow. Even if you don't allow the construction of new RR a few more Engineers would make things a little more realistic!Last edited by McMonkey; May 18, 2010, 16:28.

CSA Dec 1863
One yankee infantry rgt destroyed north of Mobile. The noose is tightened around the remainder of the Army of the Chattahoochie, now confined to a small area. Confederate general Cornelius Generic Rutabagga is killed leading his heroic troops in a frontal attack against the entrenched yankees along the river.Attached Files

@tech
You certainly have been in top form lately . . . . . "Chattanooga Choo Choo", "Richmond Cotton Picker", the hamlet of "Agricola", "Cornelius Generic Rutabagga" etc.Excerpts from the Manual of the Civilization Fanatic :

Thanks. The village of Agricola was McMonkey's catch, though. We expect that it may be the site of the surrender of the "Army of the Tensaw", now cut off by CS naval superiority in the Gulf of Mexico.
Have you arrived back in Canada for the summer?

Yes, we got back 10 days ago after the usual pleasant cruise up Interstate 75 from Clearwater to Detroit and then desperately staying out of the way of leadfooted Canadian drivers on the 401 and 400 from Detroit to Muskoka. Nice to escape oppressive summer heat and humidity and return to a temperate climate.
Found the usual minor problems in a place that was in a deep freeze for a good part of the last 6 months. The best one was when the Mad Gardener couldn't unlock her gardening shed and proceeded to turn the place upside down for a week before unearthing the key in a jeans pocket where she had carefully misplaced it last fall. For some reason she found the whole episode much less hilarious than I did.
Good to be back home.Last edited by AGRICOLA; May 19, 2010, 05:54.Excerpts from the Manual of the Civilization Fanatic :

Union December 1863
The final Neutral city, St. Joseph, surrenders to the Union. 2 Neutral Militia disarmed.
The Army of the Chattahoochie destroys two Rebel Conscript units to the south of their defensive positions.
In Mobile Bay a transport ship bringing reinforcements to the Army of Tensaw spot the damaged CSN Ironclad John C. Calhoun and notify USN Warships which sail into the bay and sink the lumbering craft.

Happy New Year!
The glorious Confederate States of America celebrate their first three years as a new nation!
In his address to Congress, President Jefferson Techdavis said, "If those damn yankees can't conquer the South in the next twenty four months, they never will. So let us prepare our final offensive against Northern aggression".Attached Files
