As I said, once both US and USSR have developed the logistical power to wage proxy wars abroad, anything goes as far as I am concerned, but right now this is, with all due respect, not more than a very cheap shot because AiC knows that the US can't possibly fight a proxy war in Iran or Pakistan at this stage.

I wouldn't disagree if I had any fair chances of fighting this war, but I don't.

well, but i`m using european nato... and i`m closer to afganistan than you. why can´t i participate there? just a soviet-europe nato conflict.

Iran crisis solved!

After suspense and anxiety about the future of the nation initially lay in the air, the USSR as well as the USA are pleased to announce that we have come to an agreement which will be constructive for both our nations and all other nations involved.

In order to defuse not only this situation, but also others abroad, and to further embrace the era of global detente, the Treaty of Damascus has been signed between the two superpowers.

The items of the treaty are as follows:

1. All US funding for the corrupt Shah regime will immediately be stopped.

The Shah, after hearing the news, decided to abdictate and go to exile in Switzerland to escape the wrath of the Iranian people.

Elections will soon be held in Iran, with Shapour Bakhtiar, the last prime minister before the coup, currently being regarded as the most likely winner of the election.

Bakhtiar's party is known to advocate staunch neutrality in the ongoing tensions between the USA and the USSR.

2. All Soviet funding for Cuba's communist regime will immediately be stopped.

Castro has already fled the country, vowing to continue the struggle for revolution in south America, but US rangers are hot on his heels.

A general election will be held next month, and polls indicate that Andrés Rivero Agüero will be the next president. Andrés Rivero Agüero advocates a political reform which is essentially a synergy of eastern socialist and western libertarian values. Due to the symbiosis of values and doctrines, it is believed that the new Cuba will be neutral in the current world order.

3. All Soviet funding for Nicaragua's communist regime will immediately be stopped.

As we speak, the Sandistinas have already begun taking control of the country, and they have declared that they will start and era of rebuilding, focusing on repairing the damage of the great earthquake of '72 and on balancing the trade deficits experienced due to a decline in the cotton price. These reforms will take a long time to complete and will effectively bar the country from taking any side in the current Russo-American dispute.

Chinese scientists are worried about the growing global problem of pollution, and urge the big polluters in Europe, Russia and the US to handle the problem together before it gets out of hand. There might be unknown consequences if not.

Ok, I have given most cities to the neutrals now, but I encountered a problem with La Habana.

Since it is the capital of the minor soviets, I could not gift it to the neutrals.

Hence I went into the minor soviets civ and made a few other cities produce the capital improvement. The capital will be in either North Korea or Vietnam next turn if nothing goes wrong. Not that it matters a lot, since the minor soviets have fundamentalism.

I will proceed to give La Habana to the neutrals next turn, once the capital has been moved.

I hope you are ok with that.

Also, we would like to let everybody know that there is currently only 1 square of pollution in the US, and a group of engineers has already been dispatched to remove it.

First of all La Habana was never supposed to be captured, as it's one of the capitols, as per the rules. Not a big deal (just ignore my rambling) if this is what you agreed upon, but the whole opening of the game could have been avoided if you had just respected the capitol rule. Didn't realise this before now.

Secondly, this is the last turn we open the game file, no matter what. All turn based events are nilled out and I don't want that. So, please, if you are to gift any cities, please gift using civdip.

Apart from that, China sends more export goods to the US.
