Please! Please! This is supposed to be a happy occasion! Let's not bicker and argue about who killed who...

We Civ2ers have to stick together. I'm not sure why there was a need to delete the posts, but what's done is done.

The reason is because old people like to stick together with other old people more than with other Civ2ers.

Ahh, the impetuousness of youth.... Even if my brain can't spell in the morning. That comment (and indeed this entire debate) was uncalled for.

The bottom line is there is no club, old players don't stick togather (in fact alot of us give more robust criticism to each other than we would ever give to anyone else). Everyone is entitled to an opinion and to give criticism, but must also be expected to receive it in return

The whole situation could have been avoided if the rules of the succession game were noted by all. That said, perhaps a more 'diplomatic' response to the breach of game rules was in order.

Now is it game on, or are we going to continue along this myopic path...

I'll wait a few hours to give Ecthy (or anyone else) a chance to take the save. I'll check back later and take it if it's still available.

The save is in post #54

You and all others are most welcome

BUT THIS IS A CIV2 2.42 GAME - other versions of Civ2 can read the save, but 2.42 players CANNOT read the save from game versions higher than this!

Most entertaining log Ele - keep up the good work! I agree two fish lead to a lot of stink! But I founded before I had revealed the second fish - with hindsight the initial whale would indeed have been a better choice.

Yeah, I'm noticing a worrying "Life as usual" mentality in this place, like nothing had happened

                        Ecthy,

What's done is done - rightly or wrongly.
I'm genuinely sorry that you still feel agrieved.
You and all other Civ players are most welcome here, but the primary purpose of this thread is to play a Succession Game as best we can. Hence "Life as usual" is as good a modus vivendi as any.

A number of us have said that we are sorry that you feel angry, and that we are sorry you feel we have not appreciated your efforts. If there is something else that you think we should do, please tell us what it is. However, one thing we cannot do is use your save to continue the game. Even if it was not an FW save, your attack on the Zulus would have lowered our reputation and we agreed at the begining to remain "spotless".

Ele's save has been posted. Please feel free to take the ball and run with it. I'll check again early tomorrow (UK time) and if no one has claimed it, I'll take a turn.

Excellent log, Elephant, both informative and entertaining. I laughed out loud at 2100b.

We think alike as to city placement and the need to quickly get down the first four cities. I would work one or more fish, though, for the faster advances. If Trade comes before the WOW is finished, it could be switched to MPE. Lots of possibilities developing. Nothing about the city gifting "plan" though. I missed that.

                              Who's next??

When I first opened SG's 3000 save I wondered if we had really settled the issue of game goal. I admit two 3-special spots were nice, but they are sharing two of the specials so one can only grow at the expense of the other, and furthermore all of the specials are Fish-type. Not a lot of good trade from them, unless you get lucky with Gold. A better plan would have been to use the Whale to start a city in the river system that had as much rivered grass as possible, and work toward early Bridges.
Besides, at [68,16] Pas could've been a two special canal

[66,22] makes a good canal and a staging city for trade routes from the river network cities to Zim.
