    Plat, comparing your 3450 turn to my 3450 turn, a couple of observations:

    1) Your units have indeed moved, but they still have partial movement points remaining;

    2) The map is not centered on black, but on Babylon's heartland.

    And a couple of theories:

    1) The unused movement is 1/4, 1 1/4, 1 2/4, etc. But only one unit is on a river. I wonder if you may be using a rules.txt file that you modded and forgot about. For example, you'd have these partial movement allowances left if you'd changed these units to "alpine")

    Best solution, to be sure, would be to simply download the scenario again from Kull's site and overwrite the directory.

    2) I suspect you forgot to do CTRL-N before centering on black and saving. The "always wait at end of turn" is a necessary prerequisite, which you seem to have done. But you still need to finish your movement AND press CTRL-N (but not "Enter"), before centering on black (right click) and saving. The centering on black is not really required, but is a slight protection for yourself to discourage the subsequent player from accidently viewing your map, cities, units, etc.

    I suspect Pal will go ahead after the 24 hours, but we'd all really like it, if you could participate. So please, if you get the chance try again, either this current turn or another practice turn.

          Absolutely,

          Hopefully, Plat will be able to join us sometime soon, but even when/if he does, we'll still want to stick to the 24 hour target for this test/practice game, I think.

          If it's not too much trouble, why don't you do the Egyptians, too. Peaster indicated he'll be out till July 7th, starting today. I was hoping he'd be able to get another turn in, but it looks doubtful.

          Think of yourself as the supreme leader of all the semtic nations.

          ST and I will, hopefully, follow you.

                  As should I:

                  Minoans popped a hut for pottery;

                  Hittites found a wounded Assyrian Swordsman, and ran away. The Assyrians wanted to talk/trade. I made the mistake of accepting the Ambassador and traded Alphabet away for the very useful Class Structure (thought I already had that one). I probably should replay the turn and refuse the Ambassador. Isn't that what we agreed to? But I figured Pal probably got the better of the deal, so I just left it the way it was. Let me know if you want me to replay it Pal.

                  Plat if you're still threatening to play tonight, try it on the live file. Just make sure you have a good copy of the scenario installed and that you CTRL-N and center on black before you save and upload.

                  Pal, you're on deck again, but may not have to do Babylon if Plat succeeds.

                    reinstalled for a clean go around

                    used current save file mu_b3410
                    moved all units until they would go no more
                    Ctl -n
                    moved and saved to dark area

                    • I am pretty sure Plat is doing everything correct but he is using a different rules.txt-propably with a road allowance at 1/3 instead of the normal 1/4. Once again Bab units were left with a fraction of movement left.

                          The class structure tech is usefull. It is one of the prerequisites for the ceremonial burial tech(along with pictographs), according to Kull's tech tree pdf guide.

                          But due to an overlook in the rules.txt class structure leads to nothing and grants nothing, while ceremonial burial only has pictographs as its prerequisite. I had made that point earlier in the thread.

                          Anyway i will gift you a tech next turn, no prob.

                            Yeah, I saw your earlier post. Just don't really have a strong opinion...I could argue either way. On the one hand, the .pdf guide certainly implies it should be a pre-req and it makes logical sense. On the other hand, it seems just as likely that the .pdf guide is the one that is flawed, since documentation generally gets less attention that the rules.txt file. Perhaps it was consciously removed as a pre-req becuase temples were taking too long to reach? Also, while it is the least useful tech, currently, it is not completely useless...it occupies the E2 slot, so when Colosseums come around it'll make them a bit more effective. Plus, some designers deliberately put dead-end or less useful tech paths into their tree. And the situation has been there for years, surviving several versions of the scenario.

                            Bottom line - I'd be hestitant to modify it unless Kull came along and issued an update. We could ask in the other thread.

                            Don't feel obliged, I should've rejected the ambassador, since we said we wouldn't allow diplomacy not previously approved by the controlling player. Besides, it has some value, if only that it gives me a chance to get something else via goodie hut.

                            But speaking of huts and techs...Since we're in the process of stealing each other's huts, how about we agree to share any techs we get from huts in "disputed" areas? Or maybe all hut-based techs for the near future. "Disputed" is probably everything from the Levant to Central Asia, no?

                              Bingo! I can replicate the anomaly if I set the road movement rate to 1/3 for the Bab turn, but then back to 1/4 when I start the Assyrians turn. Even if I've hit Ctrl-N, and centered on black, I get an extra 1/4 movement point, and center on the re-activated units.

                              What I don't get, though, is that the one full-strength skirmisher has 1 1/4 movement left rather than just 1/4. That implies that the skirmisher slot is also flawed...set to 1 movement.

                              Plat, are your units called "Skirmishers" and "Farmers" or "Legions" and "Settlers"?

                              Are you sure the correct scenario files are installed in a subdirectory under the "scenario" subdirectory? AND are you sure you have been putting the downloaded "Mu_bxxxx.hot" file into this subdirectory?
