    • That doesn't look like a gryphon varwnos.

      That's a gryphon.
I'd like a separate civ for the Gods, so that you could use them like the Godzilla creature in the old Sim City games - to wreak havoc over a certain area, and then disappear. Maybe make them very strong but give them the helicopter flag so that they weaken over time.
The ancient Greek gods were highly capricious, and thought nothing of interfering in human affairs.

Sorry, the image tag didn't work properly.

      • hmm, you are right. Perhaps the "griffon" unit shouldnt be used.
Or it could be a generic part bird, part human unit of some sort.

        • Again, sorry about the delay.

@Duke o' York: I plan to represent the gods through events strictly, both random and triggered. This way, they can cause more mischief than as a civilization, actually.

@varnwos: I do like your myth units, and Zena makes a great amazon! Any chance of a manticore and/or chimera?

            • Sorry for not posting. I've been out of town.

Anyways, I've made a list of the remaining units I need. It runs essentially as follows:

              -Two Norse cavalry
-Three Celtic human units of almost any military description
              -A longboat and kebenit
              -A Norse and Celtic hero
              -A manticore and chimera
-A petsuchos (jeweled crocodile), wadjet (winged cobra), and mummy
-A lammasu (winged, human-headed lion) and annunaki (insectoid artificer)
-A dwarf, alfar, giant, troll, and valkyrie
              -A redcap, sluagh, and boggart
              -An Ethiopian and Iberian barbarian

Now I don't think they're all going to fit in one graphics file, even for the Test of Time. This means I'll have to prioritize.

If anyone can provide any of the above units, please post. I'd be indebted, and all contributions are tax deductible.

              • Again, sorry for the delay. I've been very busy lately.

I've had some new ideas for this scenario, so I hope interest hasn't waned entirely.

First, I'd considered a Zeus/Jovian Thunderbolt missile type unit, but haven't decided exactly how to implement who gets it and how.

As well, I've had a few ideas on Wonders, notably the following:
                - Parthenon (perhaps as the Great Wall)
-the Colosseum (the actual improvement will be something else) (as Shakespear's Theatre)
-Stonehenge (as Isaac Newton's College or Copernicus' Observatory)
-the Temple of Vespasian (as Michaelangelo's Chapel)
-Vallhalla (as Sun Tzu's War Academy)
-the Danesgild (as Adam Smith's Trading Company)
-the Temple of Isis (as the other of Isaac Newton or Copernicus)
-as well as some of the earlier ones as is (the Pyramids, the Hanging Gardens, the Lighthouse, the Great Library, and the Colossus)
-and a few for the Atlanteans, essentially created from wholecloth.

I have some other ideas I'm working on, but know I've not given up.

Any further contributions would be warmly welcomed.

                • Hello, again, everyone!

I just got back from another long stint teaching English, this time in Myanmar.

And now I'm determined to finish this scenario!

Though I'm still on dial-up and thus still won't be posting as often as I'd like, please know I'll be keeping up on this thread and would appreciate any continued aid in this endeavor.

I am almost done the first draft of a map of Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and Atlantis to be used for the Surface World in this scenario. I'll need more care for the Underworld map.

I still have all the cool graphics you've all sent me. Many thankings!

I'll get back with my list of things done and things to do in a few days.

                    • Sorry about the delay. I'm having trouble with my Internet service. The last three nights I tried to post, and all three times my connection cut out as I submitted it.

Anyways. You know Techumseh, if a schoolchild in Myanmar calls their home country Burma, they get rapped on the knuckles with a bamboo stick 25 times.

The colonial name's not too terribly popular there, except among the older people.

All in all, though, it was a spectacular experience. I was in a rural area north of Mandalay, and the people were very friendly, generous, and patient toward me. I saw a Buddhist temple older than Christianity and actually petted a well-trained tiger, among other things. Not bad for a country labeled by George W. Bush as an "Outpost of Tyranny."

I have heard, however, that Rangoon and the other big southern cities are less friendly, with more crime and corruption, but I can't verify this.

On the issue of my scenario, I would like to get it done. I'm assembling a new units file as we speak, but need just a few more unit graphics. I'll post a list in a few days.

                          • I'm back again. Still on limited Internet hours, though.

Anyways, I do agree that this scenario definitely has potential; if I can get it done, that is.

I'm currently on the lookout for Celtic human units, a kebenit (Egyptian warship), and non-Grecian myth units. Can anyone possibly help me there?

Also, I would appreciate any help you could offer on people and icons graphics, Mr. Curtsibling. I notice your city graphics are fairly splendid, too.

And, as for my multimapping plans for the Underworld, I notice on other threads Mr. Techumseh is the man to go for to make maps come together. Any chance of you helping a humble nubie like me?

That's the vague list for now. I'll be a little more specific when next I post.

                            • Hello, again!

I'm currently working on the way to get "divine intervention" events set up in this scenario. I'll need some advice, though, if anyone's got some.

I'm also looking for good Atlantean city graphics; I'll repeat this request on the right thread. I'll also repeat my requests for Celtic human units, Norse and Celtic heroes, a kebenit, and non-Grecian myth units on the right threads. Maybe that will work.

Now, I want to combine ancient advances from basic Civilization 2 with some more specific things and myth techs to make my tech tree. I've considered "Divine Wisdom" as the renaming of Future Tech.

These are my current ideas. More to come.

                              • Sorry for the delay. Real life has interfered, I'm afraid.

Anyways, I'm still looking for the above units if anyone can assist me. I'm also looking for advice on how best to make divine intervention events and multimapping work. I'm somewhat new to that.

I have ideas for what I want, but there somewhat nebulous other than what I've already revealed. I've considered a few changes to how civilizations will work as well, notably Atlantis, as I do want them to be more playable.

I also have considered a few new unit ideas, such as a Jovian thunderbolt missile unit, so I'll have to prioritize units on the graphics file and in the rules text.

                                Any contributions would be helpful!
