Yes, the phoenix is from BoF, so is the roach i moded into a Scarab in this set.

Unless UDB has despaired and dropped off, I d'like to ask if he'd like it with the gold wings too (which look awkward, sprouting from the hind legs, mind you)

There was really huge roach in that game, however it is detailed in such a way that it can't be made into a convincing Scarab.

On more Wagneric grounds (ta tam ta ta ta tam) , are the Valkyries supposed to be winged themselves, or do they ride flying steeds? Those steeds have wings?
No steed means more "exposure" btw

Doesn't the Lamia look too much like the Wadjet in the serpent aspect?

I think you have a variety of interpretations of the Valkyries. Check out Wikipedia. I think the most traditional has them without wings riding wolves, but I suspect even that isn't solid. It seems to have evolved from a couple of sources. A Google image search shows a whole spectrum of riders and mounts, but it's heavily weighted toward the wet dream depictions.
