      • Comrades In tot can the following be done:

        remove the pause when multiple units are killed
        remove the pause when aircraft scramble.

        ps whats the changeterrain number for coalmines?

        • I assume that you are asking about a pause between an event and the corresponding popup. Despite still using Oddjob, an ancient 800 MHz PC, I see no discernible delay. You might try downloading and installing both the MGE and TOT patches from



          They eliminate the worst of the CPU-hogging tendencies of both MGE and TOT.

          • haha actually no i'm refering to the need for the player to hit ok before the game continues when it notifys you about a aircraft scrambling and or mutiple units being killed.

            Makes beta testing and even normal gameplay slow if you just want to walk away for 5 minutes whilst your getting hammered by the ai

                      • I just finished a game of Red Front ToT, with the new graphics. The new look adds new life to an old favorite. Hats off to Fairline and Curt!

                        I managed to hold on to the end this time, holding the Germans to a marginal victory. My performance was undoubtably poor by some standards, but I managed to clear the area south of Leningrad and in front of Moscow, as well as recover the Caucasus. A major German thrust from Stalingrad towards the south Urals was contained.

                        I think my major failing is the conduct of the Murmansk convoys. I lost a majority, and the ones that did get through were major efforts involving a year's worth of ships and supplies. In future, I will disband some of the Supply Convoys to build up a powerful cruiser force in the UK to protect the convoys to Murmansk. It's clear that these supply units are critical to building up the Red Army to the point that it can take on the Germans.

                        I was frustrated by the "too many units" message early and late in the game. Has anyone used the patch by Elys to overcome this?

                        Finally, I have a couple of suggestions. First, make the "rubble" units barbarians with hex editing an alliance with all civs, instead of Soviet. That way the Germans won't attack them and the Soviet player doesn't have to watch all the movements near their "rubble" units every turn.

                        Second, I wonder why the P-47 doesn't have the fighter flag? Perhaps if the US forces were stronger, fewer would need to be created by events, easing the "too many units" problem in the last few turns.

                          Does anyone know if the patch has to be in place during the development of a scen or can it be added later?

                            • I love the original RF 1.4 because it has absolutely no house rules.

                              Therefore, operating on the safe assumption that Captain Nemo knew exactly what he was doing, ship chaining is perfectly OK.

                              Also, I can assure you that there will be no danger of 'too many units' in RF 1.4 TOT.
