    1540 (10) New cities: Quick Coal & Rapid Buff. Pop = 5M
    1) I had to choose, and preferred the wonders (Magellan + Leonardo + Isaac (planned)). Though one caravel was finished building IIRC.

    2) What use those 2 cities on rather rough terrain?

    • Good turns!! this is working out nicely.

I agree with La Fayette about Rapid Buff, especially with the still undeveloped river system, with buffalo, north of Sweetwater; and with Explosives coming next. But, I wasn't there.

We are moving right along. Let's try this as a roster...

The territory around both of those cities was ours -- the gap looked like it needed to be filled. As it turns out, the buffalo & coal mine should pay for themselves with future trucks if nothing else.

        • Yep. I agree they will pay off long term. I think the queries were more about why 'those' sites now instead of others.

1180: Republic chosen (sure the Monk will love that ); lots of units disbanded; SHAKESPEARE completed; lux at 10%, enough for our SSC to celebrate (thank you HG!).
Yes, my friend, this is now the time for Republic. Growth can begin w/o interruption from unhappies in the Capital.

But there were 10 cities at size three and 8 of them could have celebrated for at least one turn with luxuries at a mere 30%. In this context, I believe you will find the answer to your question about the aquaduct at 4Monks. Rasputin was thinking that more growth would be initiated once Republic was suggested. At least, that is what I thought when I noticed that build order.

                probably a stuf fup ooops
why the marvelous Wonder of Shakespeare was left half-built and why there were so many caravans left idle here and there (this is not the 'lazy' succession game is this ?).
this was becuae i wasnt sure if that the right wonder to build and paniced so didnt build it left to next leader , yourself, to make that decision

                        You are perfectly right
... but it was such fun to celebrate at 10% lux

(I had in mind our friend Jrabbit setting lux at 70% in another game in order to celebrate, and that pleased me mightily ).

                              • I was just saying that if I take the .sav home from work with me that'll be in four hours time (3am your time), then I shan't return with it until 9 tomorrow morning (7pm your time), which isn't really fair on everyone else.

Besides, maybe my girlfriend would appreciate an evening without the delights of Civ 2, as only I see them.

I think I'll withdraw my offer to play this. Maybe later, if the game is still going by the time I get round to it again.
