    • The barbarian bear tribe wants to stop us exploring the south-west.. Diomedes has to fight an other Bear. We have bit better odds now, but still a very dangerous fight.
In the north the barbarian warrior did not attack. Let's hope it does in this turn and won't go closer to our lands.

      • Fortify both and hope they attack. Also we might want to consider moving our city defender from our western city 1 tile to the NW (on top of the wheat). That way if the barbarian doesn't attack our fortified warrior the city defender can still move to the forested hill to the west of the city before the barbarian does. I'd rather get him to attack us in a strong spot then to try to attack him to save a tile.

        • we rather not move out from the city as it would make our citzen unhappy. we will have a new warrior ready in next turn, He can intercept the barbarian if needed.
with the bear the fight is not optional, we can't move/fortify.

          • Consider this then. What if the barbarian doesn't attack our warrior? What happens then? It would mean the barbarian, almost certainly, moved to the east and so the next turn he could move to the wheat field to pillage it. Now, we could attack him then from the city but what happens if we lose? We'd have an undefended city. That means we'd lose a city. So do we risk letting him pillage stuff or do we take action? If we are to take action then we should move the city defender to the wheat field and move the capital defender towards the western city. That way no matter what happens we are covered and we have military units in position to defend ourselves with.

To do less seems outright criminal to me. A complete negligence of duty.

Edit: It seems I over stated. The barbarian is still two moves out from the city instead of one but still I think we should take strong action to prevent losing tile improvements.

            • We killed both the warrior and the bear!

Diomedes needs 6 turns of rest unfortunately, Apollo will get woodsman II next turn. The new warrior we produced in Aurora goes SW and with apollo will oversee the foundation of the horse city.

In the east Belle can continue his journey. My suggestion is to send him SW and look for a southern neighbor. (alternative is to send him east, beyond the Incas)

We have finished writing, next technology is bronzeworking.
I made a picture from demographic screen, as you can see we are second now in every important stats.

                  • Since we have writing now we could make open borders with the Inca. I'm not saying we should, it's just an option.
Next turn we can see their demographic stats (and they can see ours).
I can see now how powerful the financial trait is (I don't remember the last time I played with one), we get 5 extra commerce already (it's about 25% increase in science rate). I think non financial civs (like Inca) will be at big disadvantage. (so we should watch, as they might become jelaous)

                    • Mz, you need to hook up the gold soon to be able to grow Apolyton to 6 and Aurora to 5.
Ideal would be in 4 turns. (so please send 1 worker there)

After that we need, besides the obvious cottage development, the hill mine near Port Boreas.

By the way did we send / receive any more messages from Inca??

                      • I did not forget about the gold, it's all planned out. The single worker will move to the goldmine next turn and build the road, then it can continue to build the road for the 4th city. Once the cottage 1NW from capital is finished our border will pop and the two workers can finish the cottages on the floodplains (before that one of them will join in the project imporwing horse and pig).
After that we will build mines. I think Port borealis will grow to pop 4 while working only on cottages then it will switch to two cottages and 2 plain hill mine.

                          • Our population is fourth and land area 5th.

It sounds like most other civs are growing faster.

                            • BTW I think we should set a goal of having 1.5 workers per city.

                              • The land area may be to do with culture and population on happiness.

                                Whats the story on religion?

After BW we go for Maths but the rest of the civs seem to be hesitant about religion. What's our view?
