  • My god, the world has gone nuclear and Strider is dead!!

He fell down the cracks of Mount Doom whilst Sauron looked on

BUT Gondor refrains from entering such a contest, as a nuclear free nation.

    • Many surprises.. seems I guessed only Russia right
      My tips were:
Babylon-Robert tough after Robert making a login mistake during our last war I knew who he was, my next tip for babylon was Deity
Byzantium-The priest, because He always plays for diplomacy
Sumeria: I had no idea, but my diplomacy with him certanly reminded me to that Japan/Russia diplo.. we never could agree on anything , but I mostly recognize players by their play style and St Jon played much better than I'd had expected.

      • Bah, two missiles hit? I wonder if you hit the right city, the one with the great artists hiding in . Anyway so much for the SDI..

          • Lord of the Desert,

Unfortunately you once again weren't able to live up to your agreements with your best friend.
Indeed, Rome is your best friend, despite the fact that we went to war against each other three times.
You have no friends. And even that one allie you had lately was pushed away by you. Quite literally.

Egyptian borders crawl into Roman territory.
We had to higher our cultural output to counter it, but nothing was good enough.
We even had to build up pressure upon our other neighbors to fight your growing cultural influence.
But we were ready to accept this.

Then you promised to not spread Jewels Inc. to Memphis and Thebes.
That was your promies, Lord of the Desert. That was your way of showing your friendship to Rome.
Rome that went to war with you when you needed us against Babylon.
Rome that saved you from Religious Hindustani Indoctrination by conquering the Hindu capital.
And what did you do to Rome? Indeed, you broke that one promise you made.
You increased the cultural pressure upon the already plagued Roman border by spreading Jewels Inc to that one city you promised to not spread it to. That one only city.....
You had everything, we had nothing. Yet you chose to do this.

We will not let this happen and therefore Declare war on you now.
We will terminate the cultural influence of Thebes forever.

We have nucleair weapons and will use them if you use them.
If you will live up to the war rules of Geneve, then so will we.

            Julius Caesar
            Father of Augustus
            Emperor of Rome

            • ooc good idea to follow established turn order as per the previous turns, ie

Rome, Egypt, Sumeria, Hindustani, Gondor ----- then Russia, America

why not, we'll lose the moment!

I think it fine to start interleaving ooc dissertations now.

As some of you know I've never played a SP game ever (maybe a few turns but not a full game since Civ 2 before I started multi-play in 1999)

SO, I learn as I go in MP games receiving generous advice from many - esp Toni and Cyber, also Trev; and also indirectly from mzprox and others.

I went for an experiment in this game with a small civ and lots of diplo; but in the end you need those cities.

Also, I had no AI to beat up on and I think the worst land of any civ and land/ice locked from the oceans. Excuses, excuses. If it weren't for Russia's assistance I may never have gotten any colonies.

For a long time I forgot about the no SS victory and that stuffed up my real shot at winning ig, but I didn't really play for that. I really enjoy the process, the journey, the diplo.

What an excellent game! I love you guys! And especially Cyber's management of the game. How lucky we are

It is a shame too many left but a great credit to all those that finished, especially bamf.

Be a laugh if Toni wins the UN victory just before the CV...

                • ok ok ok ok, I'll join then.
(Especially now I see Egypt destroying my 110 army stack slowly one by one.
If Egypt won't in this game, I'm going to be destroyed by Mongolia next turn..... :eek!: )

                  • I lost track of who was in this game, apart from those who are still in it, this is what I thought:

                    - Egypt - mzprox: I guessed it, he confirmed
                    - Byzantium - trev: always thought it would be trev (had no clue, didn't recognize any gaming style, so assumed it would be trev since I don't know him that well)
                    - Sumeria - deity: yes, I thought it would be deity, big empires are deity's trademark
                    - Russia: Toni: well, there wasn't much of a choice left, good player, not starting any way himself..
                    - Mongolia: st jon: I expected him to be the 'worst civ' left over, knowing st jon to stay with us till the end! Great job, st jon, for being Sumeria!!
                    - Babylon: The Priest - well, he text messaged me during one war to extend the timer, so that made it clear
                    - America: bamf...? no clue who else.

                      • So Rome is Cybershy??!!

Can't believe that... Rome sounded so like Byzantium from DoC. And he sounded Priestish. But it's the other religion...

                        • So far the only ones we all sort of knew was Russia and Egypt!

                          • I always try to play a different role in every game, kinda re-invent myself.
Not always possible, especially b/c of the poor English which often gives it away.

                              • oh.. my a two hour long turn..

In the end I had to pull the trigger.. use the great artists. So my final city is one turn from legendary culture from now. I thought I could wait a few more turns but no, I've lost half of my army attacking rome, I would had lost in two turns anyway
Such an unlucky fight btw.. started by getting 2 icbm hits from 2.. never mind my SDI (my only nuke got caugth ofc), and then losing dotzens of units with better odds.. I couldn't even kill the invading romans tough what is left wouldn't be enough to take my city, not even if it would get nuked more.
