Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
You are arguing over facts, when it is a well documentated event how much vote you missed every time. And the definition what is happening right now is much closer to suicide than it is to killing.
So you convert to Hinduim to save the world from Hinduism - what wicked contortion is that? Is everything you say twisted lies?
It's quite strange I can agree on that.. appearently if my people visits the hindu temples every saturday then they get double votes about that should they visit it every day.. they are villing to make this sacrifice for the greater good..but not for too long...
The Sumerian Government issues a formal warning to the states of Egypt, Rome and Mongolia that the consequences of further Cultural encroachment upon her sovereign lands will be extremely severe. Any means, including military, will be employed to stem this underhand method of attack which causes our people to starve for loss of their ancient farmlands and fishing grounds.
It is with grief that things have reached such a point but none of you have chosen to take heed of reasoned dialogue upon this issue. You are all old friends of Sumeria and we have held you dear in our hearts but enough is enough!
DesertLord and Augustus, please do not think that your war against the vermin of the planet will cause us to refrain from action. Dear Kahn, though you may be Sumeria's oldest friend, do not take this warning lightly. If Sumerian Cities starve then so shall any or all of your's. If further misery is heaped upon Sumerian citizens by your actions we shall retaliate.
Do not ignore this final request to avoid dispute!
We mourn the loss of Sumerian civilians because of increasing Roman culture.
We will do everything in our power to help you.
First of all I will send you representatives of Jewels Inc and Creative Constructions. They will increase the culural output of your cities by large numbers. I will let them create local branches of their companies at Roman costs.
I will also send you a representative from Cereal Mills who will found a local version of his company, again Rome will cover the founding costs. Cereal Mills will increase the food production in your cities, helping you to prevent your people from starving.
I assume that this will be a clear sign of good intentions from Rome.
Please confirm if this approach suits your needs.
Historians argued over which of the four great martyrdom operations was the most successful.
The first, may have been small but set the Hindu population on fire with the possibility. A nuclear powered submarine, slipping right through Egyptian massive and technologically powerful naval and air blockades, to sink troop carrying transports. The submariners knowing it would be a one way trip - even the incompetent Egyptian navy could hardly fail to destroy them once they began sinking the transport vessels, but the damange they did was significant.
The second, was the most wonderful. A column leaving the Holy Shrine as the murders closed in punching deep into enemy territory. The Hindu tanks, supported by brave airmen flying missions despite the overwheleming Egptian air superiorit, carving a path through Egyptian mechanised infantry to arrive at the once great Hindu city of New Vienne (build on the ruins of Vienne itself destroyed by Roman Riflemen three centruies ago). There ... the elephants went in! The ceremonial guard of the shrine itself - the old tuskers as they were known - burst into the city, destroying the whole of the Roman bomber force. Elephants trampling on the engines of death of the betrayers! It was wonderful. And then, the tank column withdrew, perfectly intact back to the Great Shrine. Six divisions of mechanised infantry and four bomber squadrons destroyed for the loss of one regiment of artillery pieces which could not make it back to the Shrine, and the elephant martyrs who were still gleefully trampling the Roman betrayers bomber command when the Egyptian modern armour closed in.
The third, was the bravest. By now the enemy was surrounding the Great Shrine. Total enemy frorces numbered about 70 mechanised infantry, 20 modern armour, 20 tanks, 20 infantry, 20 artillery pieces (some mobile) and supporting SAMs and medics. But the betrayer Romans, their battle tactics obviously copied from the Egyptians, had deployed their forces foolishly. Seizing the moment a marine force of Hindu martyrs, supported by small numbers of mechanised infantry, punched out from the shrine, deep into Egyptian territory, and found their target. In the valley, well proected by air power, but only a few tanks on the ground, was a major concentration of Roman artillery. Destroyed utterly. The marines knew there was no going back for them though. Only certain death. But the betraying Romans guns had been silenced.
The fourth was the most glorious. As the net closed, the southern hills surrounding the Great Shrine were flooded with Eygptian troops - 20 mechanaised infanstry, 8 modern armour, 5 mobile artillery, 4 mobile sams and supporting troops. But the main army of the Hindus was no sufficiently inspired it could not be held back? Why wait for the Shrine to collapse above your heads by Egyptian air and artillery power, when martyrdom could be yours today? The Hindus stormed out of the Shrine into the hillls. The battle was hard - mechnised infantry and modern armour protected by mobile SAMS in hills are tough. But nothing can hold back the Hindu martyrs. The whole Egyptian army was destroyed. The hills covered with blood and molten metal. Many Hindus gained martyrdom that day, others retreated for teh final defence of the Shrine, only to be greated by more men and now women volunteers pouring in from the villages.
Their governments action in betraying their friends the Hindus enraged the people. And then the stupidity of their generals, the destruction of bomber command by elephants! and then the destruction of tanks and artillery on the approach to the Shrine.
The Roman government took the only course open to dictactors whose people hate them. They imposed harsh new laws, banned freedom of speach, imposing a new nationalist socialist ethos on the country. Where once Roman culture had impressed the world (and worried the Sumarians) now all freedom was swept away and replaced by massive nationalistic banners.
The Roman people still hated their betraying incompetant government but now they could only weap in silence as the nationalistic thugs patrolled the streets.
Everyone should be thankful for what we, especially Egypt, have done. We save the world from religious terror, even if it's the last thing we do.. If we would have been wrong, if Hinduistan really gave up her plans of world domination then they would had accepted our terms which were not the terms of an evil warmonger..
We don't know if Russia would had supported Hinduistan again.. we can't know that, but how could we take the chance? Even if this war will be our downfall too we would rather have someone lead us by the UN than the hated apostolic palace.
We've also learnt something about hindusitan: they are using their spies to infiltrate other governments. and the way they are influencing government forms they can also do this with religion.. a very clever move.. in the same turn they ask for a new vote they could convert Russia.. magically and instantly to hinduism and then it's all over.. proof? none. risk that they do something like this? too big.. more than zero.
Hinduistan talks about his brilliant strategy, but in reality it is a great egyptian success that we managed to send our forces to the evil shrine while enduring the attack of and destroying 34 artillery units. our first wave of attack was nothing more but a bait to let them use up most of their artilleries before the main army enters their territory..
No - the fact that we would not give up our religion did not prove that we had some strategy for world domination, just that we believe our faith is more important than our lives. If we were bent on a strategy for domination, wouldn't we have twisted and turned, changed to free religion, bought some time, swapped back at the crucial moment? If we were bent on domination, we would have done exactly what you do - say things now and break them later - to keep that plan alive.
And no - it is no success for a massive army with huge technological advantage to fight a far more backward nation, who doesn't even have any oil. The truth is that your soliders hate you, as does the whole world, but they fear you. But fear is a far worse motivator than the love of the gods.
I just can't help but root for Babylon. Crush your enemies! Let the blood of the unbeliever run through your streets!
Isn't anyone going to take advantage of Egypt & Rome's Babylon quagmire?
Yes, it's great isn't it
Just speaking ooc something that I overlooked was the cultural victory (thought it was disabled for some reason).
So, three civs have a game mechanics winning chance or maybe 4 civs.
1 - Hindustani with Apostolic Victory
2 - Egypt with cultural - they have three cities over 30,000
3 - Russia with UN Diplo Victory
4 - And maybe God forbid if the game goes to the end of turns, Sumeria with a points victory
So, Egypt is taking military action to eliminate a rival victory.
I'm not sure about Russia but they probably need to take military action also but if you look at it from a UN diplo pov that may be contradictory. It's a diplo-light game, would you believe!!
Rome, America, Gondor and Mongolia can probably only be king makers.
There is an outside chance that Rome could get a Cultural Victory if everyone else kills each other.
Also a very slim outside chance of America getting a points victory for the same reason.
Rome takes a big risk in fighting the Hindustanis if Sauron kills Strider or the Russians advance. Likewise if Gondor moves its vast army away from Rohan then Gondor could be toast, as much as Gondor might like to get in on the action.
Egypt takes less of a risk than Rome because it still has strong border defense but Rome does not.
I'm a bit frustrated we disabled all types of victories as I think that has spoilt some game dynamics (sorry Gilgamesh!). Sure Egypt may think it could have done an SS now but Egypt would then have been the focus of animosity like the Hindustanis are. It's interesting that Rome who was sworn enemy of Egypt for so long is now actually helping Egypt win by eliminating the Hindustani DV.
Hinduistan, you are blind and fool.. and doomed your nation.. if you never wanted world domination then why we had to vote about it every ten or so turns? Why didn't you stopped it even when everyone asked you to do? Why did you choose death when you could have lived in peace.. or if you think we would had attack anyway at least you would had some friends, but everyone turned from you when they learnt what you were doing.
And your stories about our war are half truth at best.. you destroyed a loaded transport? it was an empty galleon left there as bait, you killed 5 artilleries on that hill? the whole Egyptian army had no 5 mobile artilleries, you had no oil? then what were that 30 tanks we killed using?.. and so on..
Not that it really matters now..we see you are completely mad.. fortunately some of your men saw this too , they realized that you lead them to unwanted martyrdom and they wanted to choose life, so they opened the city gate for us, making the fight much easier.
