      • But Robert, are you and I talking at cross purposes here? The reason for the pause is to allow Khmer and Spain to vote in the Apostolic Palace elections which will result in Ozzy winning and thus the game ending this turn, won't it? Or have I missed something? Its not problem to me - it has been a brilliant move by Ozzy for which he deserves victory - caught me and I guess many of us completely out of the blue. But what is the point doing all this work about subs etc. when there won't be another turn after this vote.

        • I missed that.....!
Can the AP at his stage in the game still result in a diplo winner?

          • lol YES! Haven't you voted? Look back at Ozzy's post yesterday (466) when he asked for the pause ("This turn is rather more important than any turn with a war, so I request a pause" = it was more important than a war because it is the turn of the vote which Ozzy is very close to winning). It was because of the AP vote and his realisation that Spain was going to miss his turn and therefore Ozzy might not win! That was what my 467, 487 and 494 ("end with such a stage-managed situation engineered with pauses.") are about.

            • Hi All,

I am afraid I messed up my planning, which is why we are stopped. I am really sorry, but Kees (playing the Mayans) was visiting the Netherlands over the weekend (he lives in Athens normally) and we went out into the country with some friends to a cottage, that claimed to be wifi connected. They had the right hardware, but that was about it. We both could not get online from there, so we were both missing our first turns in the new situation. Robert then decided to pause the game I will log in later today as my first Khmer turn and get my stuff sorted.

              SORRY!!!

              • No, I only received hinduism (Rocking) very recently in 1 of my cities. I have never voted for the AP.

                • Ozzy having gone to all that effort to plant Rockin in a single city in Greece at this late stage of the game rather gives away what his plan was doesn't it! You were the one nation who played before Ozzy last turn so perhaps that is why you haven't yet had a chance to vote. The mechanics are a bit unclear (hence Ozzy's earlier post about maybe needing reload because there were some oddities which me and him discussed by pm), but I can assure you the vote is happening and I would be very surprised if we don't have a Religous Leader Victory Winner by the end of the day. And although Cleopatra won't be happy, it has been brilliantly executated - I certainly hadn't given it a second thought.

                  • It plays out pretty brilliant indeed.
Very unsatifsying as well, but that's always the case for the losers of the game.

But how can we be sure that he'll have 60% (or 75%) of the votes? That's quite a lot!!
Anyway, if I did not vote, then I doubt that he'll get the win. Maybe I get a chance to vote next turn.

Most ironic is that I immediately started a GA to switch to Org Religion, created two hinu missionaries and brought them to Athens. (together with missionaries from all other religions) b/c Athens needs a lot of happiness to once again become the #1 city in the world.

I was able to bring 5 religions to Athens, switched back to Free Religion, then my two hindu missionaries arrived in Athens (1 backup). BOTH FAILED to bring Rockin' to Athens!!!

The biggest city in the world REFUSES Rockin'.
I'm sure that's the reason that the Metalhead coup will fail.

I hope that you guys did not all vote for him

                    • Ah - so you are to blame - inviting the spead of Rockin on our fair continent. I am glad to hear that the people of Greece had more taste than their rulers and rejected it!

Yes he needs the votes, but you only have voting power in proportion to the share of the Metal church you have in your country, so my measly 10 votes don't count much compared to Ozzy's 600 or so. And the two full-members of the AP (who have Metal as state religion) get double votes. No idea whether he has enough but my guess is that he has it carefully worked out, and hence knew that with Spain/Khmer he would have it, without he would not, hence the pause request!

I guess the answer is - watch this space!

The overlooked continent has been quite busy while the western powers planned their little war.

                          • War - oh Rome isn't planning a war. The Roman space ship launches in 3 turns. All that war stuff is just to keep others occupied.
