New diplo game: big discussion needed

Well seeing as BTP will be over soon I think we should start getting the plans for the new game started up.

BtP will most probably last at least another 2 months. (6o turns isn't that much!)
And since it'll most probably not a good idea to start in the summer (vacations) I think we have plenty of time.

Well If It is going to take that long can we atleast try to find someone who could fix capos mod so 18 players could play without it crashing.

I am not going to play in a game with 18 players. I don't understand why people who say there are too many posts to keep up with would want to, yet again, start a game with the exact same parameters that lead to that occuring. I think anywhere between 9 and 12 players would be optimum. And I also agree with RP that we should give some time for BtP to end and for potential vacations to occur. It sounds like a long time from now but I think three months may be a good idea. This would actually give me time to finish up a new mod for us to use as well.

EDIT: In any event, we should certainly wait the two months that BtP is predicted to last.

I don't intend to play but I highly recommend going for something in the 9-10 player range. 18 was unmanageable.

UNLESS we go for a game where it is expected from the start that some people will be eliminated and their civs gobbled up by larger civs. So an 18 person game can be whittled down to a manageable number at some point. But generally I think 18 is a bad idea.

I really like 18 players. It gives much more dynamics.
The game we have now is impossible with only 9 players. I really like the game mechanics. Alliances change, it is possible to choose your friends.

With 18 players we must put a cap on posts per month or words per month per player.

The more I think of it I like Ozzy's idea where we start off with 18 but with the understanding that some will be eliminated.

For those of you who might be interested; Black Knight was Rising Sun who was Danny P.O and, I am now more than half convinced, who was BlackDragon.

Forgive and forget is one thing but outright gullability is another. This all smells very fishy to me. Maybe I am being paranoid but I see it as prudent.

Yes I did change my name again but that's bacause I got tired of Rising Sun and wanted a cooler name. Why you keep saying I'm blackdragon is beyond me. I would understand if I was trying to get back into btp you could say that but I have not. Besides don't you think if I where to try to trick someone I would have just made a new log in? Though I don't see why it is so important.

I know it sounds very paranoid to you but I like to know that the people I play with can be trusted. Pinchak said, and I have read some of the old Threads about original Japan, 'it's odds on that Danny P.O, is BlackDragon'! I reckon now he was right as the OOC Posts were identical in the poor grammar, abysmal spelling and obsession with not being last despite the fact that it was entirely down to a lack of skill at the Game!

I retract my statement about being prepared to play the guy again.

I understand where you are coming from but you need to understand a few things.
1. Pinchak has been on a witch hunt for the original japan since I started. He has accussed me of being the original japan and has gotten others to side with him. Just look at what he did to that poor guy who stated that thread not too long ago.
2. I admit my spelling and grammer is alittle off but that is no reason to say that I am the original Japan. There are lots of ppl here who write just as bad as I do yet noone accusses them.
3. I was never obsessed with not being last. I wast last since I first started and only ever complained once. And I admit I'm not the best civ player in the world but my problems with japan where not all do to my skill level.

Now I'm sorry if you feel you cannot trust me because Pinchak told you I am the original japan. But like I said before if I'm not welcomed all you need to do is say so and I will go. But If I am I ask that this talk about me being the original Jap dies here and now.

There should not be a cap on posts, at least not on posts involving diplomacy. There is no reason, in my mind, for something like that. Maybe a cap on story posts, but as far as diplomacy goes I don't think we need to cap it.

And 18 players is way too much, with 18 there is no chance for new colonies/players and I thought it would be a cool touch to pop colonies into new civs during our games. I think between nine and twelve is an optimum number.

I agree with ozzy that 18 players is way too many people and that a cap on 12 players per game should be the absolute maximum.
