    • Betrayal and Unrest in Novgorod.

In the traders hall in Novgorod the war developments are being discussed. Rome's southern army was crushed by a daring onslaught by Rus elephants and Uncle Istvan. The Forces stationed in Pitrograd were weakened from their assault, and Rus forces were poised to TAKE BACK the city! The costs had been monumental. Thousands upon thousands of Rus workers and citizens had labored day and night to equip their people with weapons. To herd wild elephants from the central lands east and south, with no time to train them. Thousands upon thousands more had picked up arms, any arms, from woodcutters' axes to forgemade swords.

The forces of Rus would, despite all odds, and at terrible price, defeat the Roman legions. And with the addition of Piercia opening a new front, Rus would retake its cities and bring punishment to their attacker.

When a messenger from Piercia arrived. With one message. Unexplained.
      "Cease all hostilities."

Within minutes the entire city of Novgorod was in a riot. The head of Mikhail Pitrovovich Rus was placed on a pike at the top of the highest building in the city. The Rus had been betrayed. They had sought an ally, and instead attained a snakefaced overlord. The Piercians had promised to fight for and with the Rus. Novgorod would not surrender its independence before Piercia had officially declared war. When they finally did so, many in Novgorod thought it best to postpone the vassalization until after the war was won. But the Piercians pushed and threatened, and finally the delegation, swayed by the promises of Piercia, accepted.

And so Piercia announced that it would handle all major foreign diplomacy for the Rus. And their first act was to sign peace with Rome.

From his location in Kiev, Uncle Istvan returned to Novgorod. And with his axe he made a blood bath in the traders hall. And he had messengers sent to every nation, to every city.

The Piercians have betrayed our foolish merchant council. Their cowardice has been their undoing. Now a new Russia is waking. A Russia that will take its revenge upon Romands and Piercians alike. None in our lands will rest until this treachery is avenged. As soon as we can we will declare our independence from Piercia, and by fighting our way through Rome teach them the price of treachery. Any nation that would help us in our struggle for liberation will be rewarded with 1000 gold. The first nation to declare war on the Piercian dogs and burn a city of theirs will receive a Great Person. We will give 2 vouchers to any nation that burns their capital. We will give another 2 vouchers to any nation that burns Rome. We will give all that we have to be free and avenged.

We hope that the Oldonians, the Spartans, the Japanese will still aid us as they promised.
We ask that the Wyandots will heed our plea to help us or at least let others do so. We will offer them 1 voucher to give passage to our allies' armies.
We hope that Korea will see and be disgusted by the Piercian political manipulation and cowardice and join us in what is now a fight for freedom as well as a war of reconquest and vengeance.
We hope that the mighty Khmers would aid us if they can.
We ask that Portugal see the duplicitousness of their cowardly neighbours and do not stand idly by and witness such a cruel betrayal of promise and trust.

      Signed
      Istvan Yagavovich Rus

side note, this is an exploitation of game mechanics. If I could, I would immediately break this BULL**** vassal deal. **** this game. piercia, **** you too, you just made this game completely uninteresting to me. I should quit, but instead, I'm gonna spend everything I have to ruin you, i probably won't succeed, but now this game has nothing else for me. if I can reduce you just a little that will be enough.

      • Perdiccas was shocked when he read the document revealed by Korea.

"All those years Korea played like it was a friend to Sparta, but behind Sparta's back Korea forced alliances in which it talked about Sparta in an alienated way. Korea talked about Sparta as if it was 'one of the big warring parties'. It talked about Sparta as if it could not be trusted.

All those years Sparta has never spoken in any way about Korea then a good way. Sparta has always been positive about it's friendship. It has even vowed that it would protect Korea in any way. Sparta was willing to wage war against Japan for the sake of Korea.

But all those times Korea talked behind Sparta's back.
Now it's no surprise any more why Korea did not want to answer Sparta's ask for help. Now it's clear why Korea slammed Sparta in the face in public when Sparta asked for help from it's closest friend! Sparta has always been used as a defence shield by Korea, while in fact Korea cared less about Sparta.

I am shocked, I feel betrayed by my closest friend.

Korea is selfish, it doesn't care about others, but only about itself. Korea may be the most selfish nation on earth.
I am even more shocked by Korean action then by those of Rome.

But now Korea has proven that such a double tongue will not help itself.
Korea's destructing way of handling diplomacy has turned their friendship with their biggest neighbour in only a few days into the state of being enemies.

I will now consider a declaration of war against Korea.
        Sparta feels betrayed and insulted.
This is against all Spartan codes of honour and respect."

"What about the other neutral nations, sir?" the chief scribe asked.

"Neutrality means nothing but: 'we are selfish and care only about our own business!'. How can one be neutral against these warmongering Romans? Every nation can be neutral if they wish to, but Sparta will not be related to any of these 'neutral' nations. We will close our borders and stop aiding or trading them. They can be neutral if they want, but then they are on their own."

Perdiccas left the room with tears in his eyes.
He could not understand the lack of honour and the pure treachery of the Koreans.

It should be noted that the nations Oldonia, Japan and the Wyandot Nation agreed to this alliance PRIOR to the Russo-Roman war. This is important because it shows how valuable the word of these nations truly are. We do not say they are not, we ask you to draw your own conclusions, but for clarification we say this: The Japanese have NOT spoke ill of Korea, the Wyandots have NOT declared war upon Rome, and it is only the Oldonians who have done BOTH of these things... enjoy....

This should not only show the intent of Korea, to PROTECT smaller nations from larger ones by unification, but should also show that Japan, Oldonia and the Wyandot Nation agreed to it. Here are their responses by the way if they claim I am lying...

(Oldonia - this is all they said, for they are not very wise)

I do not write this with the intent on disclosing all of our missives, however we are concerned that Japan and Oldonia have accused us of "aiding" and "supplying" Rome respectively. This is entirely incorrect, in fact the very VOICE of independent states, the very man who called for a unification to avoid a large-scale struggle between two GIANTS was in fact our glorious Emperor Sejong of Goguryeo. You will have a reaction for our court shortly.....

Dream on Russia - someone has been eating too many magic forest mushrooms to write this. The Southern Army is safe and well, and has pulled back to our lands in accordance with the cease-fire. The defences of New Mediolaneum are secure. The only thing that stood between you and utter destruction was our self-restraint in only ever wanting to re-capture our city of Mediolaneum, and the intervention of the Piercians. Their noble action has saved the Rus, and yet you declare your intention to declare war on them and burn their capital to the ground. Stop eating those mushrooms ...

          • The Senate of Rome to Emperor Aun'O Asiz Asizia of Piercia,

            Greetings

We acknowledge and comment your bold move in intervening to save the Rus people from their own self-destruction.

We were sitting down to consider carefully the proposals you, our friends, have made. However, we now here that the Rus are publicly declaring that they have no desire for peace, they raise allies with the purpose of burning Rome, and - astonishingly - they have committed themselves to declaring war against yourself, their protector, and raise allies agianst you.

This leaves us very confused as to how diplomacy can go forward.

            • I will now consider a declaration of war against Korea.
So lets get this straight - peaceful Korea decides to remain neutral, and so Sparta threatens them with war.

Sounds like when Sparta offers friendship to a smaller nation it actually thinks of them as vassals. Friends of Rome are free to pursue their own foreign policies and trade with whom they wish. Some may be smaller nations, but they are independent and equal partners.

So an appeal by Khmer on behalf of smaller nations gets this reaction?

Whilst maintaining reasonable diplomacy, we are deliberately uncooperative with the great nations to our own disadvantage so as to advantage the smaller nations.

At least we take a stand to support Russia from oppression. What do you do but stop support reaching Russia?

I killed the 2 prats and 1 catapult you sent in on my southern front despite this being a "limited" move. and the 2 prats in and near Pitrograd you sent would have died on my turn had not the piercians screwed me. but fine, I'm gonna spend the rest of this game ****ing you up. and piercia. enjoy.

                        • To great Marco of Portugal.

Suryavarman 1 of Khmer fears you have been used in this land dispute.

Why not graciously allow Russia to keep the city on your side of the Great Bay and further discuss the complexity of Portugal, Rome/russia relations.

And let's get back to the negotiating table on the management of New Portugal.

Together we can do much good to help nations like Russia yet for ourselves only earn nothing more than diplomatic respect.

We await your diplomatic proposal from Philip.

                          • To : Russia

I hail you, people of the East,

I have been told that you are uncomfortable with putting an end to the fighting. You will not be abused. The return of Pitrograd was among the conditions for the cease-fire. Rome will give you your city back or suffer the consequences.

You came to me, asking for protection. This is what I offered. For this, your oath means that you owe me obedience. And I command you to be patient. My main goal is to avoid further russian victims in this crisis. Wait for me to try it through words.

I can send you a copy of what your rulers sent me :

We will ask of you to break any trades or agreements with Rome. We know that this is not much in your interest, but I therefore make you an offer, that is extremely hard for us to make. If you were to join us, and fight against the imperialists of Rome, if you could aid us, we would offer you our lands to be vassalized to the Piercian Ruler. We would serve you and fight for you. We would do your bidding and pay you tribute in the form of whatever resources we may have that you do not. We would do honor to you every way we can. All we ask in return is the aid to defend our people. If our offer does not interest you, we ask that you burn it. But if it does, we will offer our nation to you upon your declaration of war against Rome.

We beg that the only nation that can challenge Rome would take up the mantle of justice, for we know Piercia is great. And we know that Rome is cruel. And to suffer their yoke, their capriciousness, to constantly live under fear of their aggression, is worse than surrendering our sovereignity to one who is known to be noble and just.
The Piercian Empire has declared war on Rome by accepting your vassalage and thereby broke all trades and agreements with Rome. Now I demand that you do my bidding and wait. If Rome refuses to give you back what is yours, we shall fight for it together, but I don't believe this to be necessary. I know Rome to be reasonable when talking to me.

Show your master the trust he deserves, and your homelands shall flourish under my guidance.

Emperor Aun'O Asiz Asizia of the Piercian Empire

                            • To Russia and All world leaders,

Japan has no problem fighting to test our strength against Rome and especially Khmer but we are not out to avenge a nation we don’t know (Russia). Japan will not turn on Piercia because Russia foolishly offered to become a vassal state KNOWING they had a pact with Rome. We will not help fix their own stupidity and could care less what they do. Japan has a much larger fish to fry then Rome so we will be changing our efforts towards building up and improving Japan. So do not come to Japan for help for well are not in the business of helping fools.

                              • To Piercia.

We did not ask for protection. We asked for an ally. You abused the trust we showed you, and now our people has come to equate Piercian with duplicitous, even dishonorable. We offered you servitude in return for helping us defeat an aggressor. Not once did we ask for you to broker a peace. You were thus given a choice to break your non-aggression treaty and fight, or reject our offer. You however, have deviously done neither. You have "broken" the pact by declaring war, then reproduced it to make peace. A deal with a Piercian is worth nothing it would seem. The basis for our vassalage has been nullified when you did not honorably uphold your part of the agreement, and as such we have no respect for it, nor for you. You may have official control over our leadership now that our political elite lies dead, but I assure you, once I have established control, Russia will spit upon your every action, we will heat your enemies, we will cool your friends, we will steal and cheat as you have stolen our naivite and cheated us from our freedom. We will take your teachings to heart and we will outmaster you in insidiousness.

You will rue the day you decided to deceive us.

                                To Japan:
You call us fools? We made a deal. A deal that Piercia break its pact that would bring shame on any righteous ruler and fight for honor. To support the weak against the strong. They chose to dishonor our deal. And for that they will pay. And so will Rome. Russia is weak. We have few strengths. But we have one that none can match. Determination. We will show you what Russian spirit means.
