  • Maximilian, the sergeant of Tribune Hieronymus' guard, came running into the senate.

"Tribune! Tribune!". He slid to a halt, embarrassed, realising that in fact the Senate was in full session, still debating the words of endless hate and vengence pouring in from the east.

Tribune Hieronymus looked up "come on then, out with it".

Maximilian looked even more embarrassed, but what could be done? Finally, sheepishly, he explained "its the soliders, as you know most of them are really writers and poets. Well they have just noticed that Perdiccas II is an anagram of 'Crap Dice is I' - you know he keeps throwing his dice and getting bad scores. And wait till you hear this ... Perdiccas II king of Sparta is an anagram of 'Signifies A Rapid Crackpot' and there are some great ones starting 'I get paranoid...' but the conclusions are a bit ... well you know soliders"

A chuckle round the senate. "Thank you Maximilian, we do have business to get one with. And remember Perdiccas is still a king".

I hail you, King of Sparta,

As I said, Aun'El Sa'Ly Lon'Don asked for korean opinion before I accepted the russian offer of vassalage. (OOC: I was discussing it OOC on msn with the Korean player just after reading russia's PM. we were talking about the mod's he is programming and that i am testing a little bit)

Rome didn't know anything about it before I made it public, and in fact, I didn't expect Rome to accept the peace-treaty including that they return Pitrograd to russian control. I am still waiting for this to happen by the way.

My decision came out of the blue just as the russian offer did. You may check the latest public correspondences between me and Rome for being certain about this.

In fact, the only thing that I am guilty for is that I did interfere in the Romano-Russian war instead of remaining neutral as I announced it to the Tribune Hieronymus in private. And even this really was what I intended to do at the time.

This is the truth, and the entire truth. I hope you can appreciate it.

        • Emperor Asiz,

It doesn't change the fact that you had the intention to forge peace between Rome and Russia without telling Russia about this.
You have there for betrayed the Russian trust, just at the moment they felt strong enough to slay the Roman armies back.

The question if Rome knew it in advance and if Korea helped planning it or was just informed does as a matter of fact not make a difference. You knew it, but you never told Russia.

          That is my main problem.

          • You have to remember Great Emperor Asiz, Friend, that the Spartans think that they are the world's policemen, and that anyone who does anything without asking them first, is guilty of 'betrayal'. Sounds paranoid to me.

I hail you, King of Sparta,

Fact is, I thought that Russia was seeking safety. I have now spoken to my vassal, and they made clear that they want more then this. I will try to reason them to satisfy themselves with getting Pitrograd back and being under my protection.

I did not know in what situation the Russian defenders were, so I assumed the worst and asked for immediate cease-fire in order to prevent other russian cities from falling.

You are right Emperor. Don't believe the Rus propaganda. We had ceased operations after capturing New Mediolaneum since our aim had always been to replace the Mediolaneum they stolen. However, had the fight continued, the Rus would have collapsed very soon. So you did save them, just a shame they hate you for it.

                • Emperor Aun'O Asiz Asizia,

The Romans address this issue right in it's core! (In their shameless communications that lack any form of formal addressing, headers, and what so ever.)
In a very paternalistic way you decided what was best for Russia, without even consulting them. But factually you did what was best for Rome. We know Rome and we know that Rome will no give up what they stole from Russia.

Rome only knows the language of war, there for we should teach them through that language.
And yes, they do know the language mesmerizing as well. They exactly know what to say to make you mesmerized.

Do not build it. It is not fair of you to build it. Give someone else who is smaller a chance to build it.
We assure you that we will not build it.

However we wish that all other top civilisations also do not build it as we can get it first - almost done.

But Khmer will leave it in the build queue and get gold for it when someone else builds it.

                    thankyou for responding.

Have you all seen my plee on behalf of smaller nations who have requested that the University of Sankore NOT be built by a top nation.

Khmer can build it very quick and are half way through but have switched production in the hope that the top nations will also NOT produce Sankore.

If we get no commitments soon posted here, we will build it.

                      thankyou and tidings,

                      Suryavarman 1

                      Dear Suryavarman 1

I am not attacking your politically, but excuse the curiousity which has taken over an old's man mind, thus I ask:

Yes Old Marco has read your request, but I am a bit worried:

*You say you take care of smaller nations, but yet you are still going to build this unknown to us wonder if someone doesn't answer you? What happend to the original request of that small nation that asked a top nation not to build it?

*You ask top nations to not build, OK that is a valid point, but Suryavarman 1 did you know that neither Portugal, Rome or Sparta have ever build any wonders EVER!

Khmer the richest, production power house and most powerful kingdom on earth

I ask you how many wonders have you build so far?

                      Old Marco

                      Greetings Old man Marco.

                      What we are saying is:

What is the point of us NOT building Sankore if it only helps Portugal, Rome, Greece or Percia?

We insist that a smaller nation be allowed to build it.

A nation less than Spain on the current world rankings to use a crude guide.

                      Khmer will NOT build it.

It is true we have several Wonders and we will build fewer from now on.

Smaller nations of the world please ask us if you really desire a particular Wonder - not that they ae ours to give but simply that we have the option of not building them.

There is only one that will not be negotiable on.

Also, at our last meerting you said that your son Philip was on his way to Khmer and to expect a message (PM) on the management of New Portugal?

                      Tidings,

                      Suryavarman 1

                          • The silence in the church was refreshing after the somewhat grating chanting, thought Otto. It was also a fitting prelude to the next part of the cermony, one he had personally directed be included in te service. It was the "Prayer to, and remebrance of, Great Ganesh."

Otto's close ally, and the closest pesron he had to a good friend in this world outside of the Empire, had died earlier this year. On top of all the economic pressures, and the diplomatic disaster in the New Western Lands, it seriously depressed the usually-stalwart Otto. He thought it truly fitting that a State Ceremony be held in Ganesh's honor. On this day, in every city of the Empire, similar services of recognition were being held.

The priest began with a prayer, and Otto prayed deeply, thanking the Lord for Ganesh's presence on earth, and bidding him well in the next life. With a collective 'amen', the priest waded into into the remembrance sermon. Otto was more than familiar with the words; he had insisted on writing most of them. He took some comfort in knowing that people all across the Empire would be sharing this moment of remembrance for the mighty Khmer ruler.

The priest, named Father Theodore, as Otto recalled, was doing very nicely with the oratory. And knowing what words were coming next allowed the Emperor to focus more on the tone of his voice than the actual words. As his mind wondered, he reflected on the new Khmer leadership. Suryavarman was quite a departure from his predecessors. Yes, his international language was much better, that was true. And he seemed more involved in world affairs - or maybe it was just the troubled times we live in thought Otto - or with a chuckle to himself he thought, maybe I am just getting old. But one thing had not changed: the relationship between the two civilizations seemed as positive as ever. That was good.

And that reminded Otto about the University proposal - um - what was it called again... Sancrat, Sanka, no Sankore. That was it. The Khmer leadership had proposed to the world that a small nation should build it. Otto did not like to think of the Empire as 'small', but he was a realist, and he was genuinely intrigued by the possibility. He wanted to turn and whisper a reminder to his aide to follow-up on this immediately following the service, but he knew that his every movement would be observed in the church. He committed the University idea to memory, and then refocussed on the remembrance to Ganesh.

                            • OOC: Maya has lots to post, and owes replies to several nations. However, due to real life priorities they will be coming this weekend. Sorry for the delay.

On another note... things seem to really be heating up fast. 2 pages of posts in a day?!?! I have a lot to review...

Well so be it he thoguht, true friends stick with one another regardless of the outcome,

So if the wynadots tried to stop the advance eastwards to help the rus then so be it.
