King Kev was saddend by the news from Korea. They think that neuatrility is poosible in this world.

unfortunatly the mechanics of this world(game) mean that open borders with naother nation is a away of supplying that other nation with gold.

This means you are activily paying the wages of the troops killing and raping women in Russia.

It is time to make a decision world.

You dont need to send troops to rome if that is not your nations way. but their is no neutrality, your gold is buying killers.

We ask Korea to rethink their decision or face the consequences of having to trust rome for all its future friensships.

Anyone who trusts rome has been shown to be caught out ask Russia and Portugese historians of romes trustability.

{ooc)no one really cares who wins this war. most probably rome will. but the game is in a terrible state over all and so by end of this war we may have no soldiers left , perhpas rome jsut goign t o sit and defend it self, to waste all the others troops., we dont care. we are bored ****less with way the big nations are sitting back and getting bigger and so little happening.

if this is the way of civ 4 games then it is a shame.

portugul and rome should never become friends. they shoulsd be at each others necks every turn. Khmer and spain should be same over in the other continent,


but it seems this game has degraded to point where some small wars between HRE and America or Metalheads and HRE etc.

but this does nothing for game balance.

The trade system in this game is crap. by allowing open borders the other nation gets gold freely. to prevent the trade you get stuck not being able to move arounf the world.

Otto gazed around the beautiful temple of Metz. It was indeed a work of art, and worthy of the praise it had garnered. As the choir moved into its 3rd movement of pious chanting, Otto's mind wandered to events outside this Christian service, which was being given in his honor on the anniversary of his ascencion to Holy Roman Emperor. He was now, by far, the longest ruling Emperor, and many would argue that by far, he was also the most succesful.

But Otto's thoughts were on none of this. He was not a self-centred individual. He went back over in his mind the chain of events in the American fiasco. He knew he should never have let that weasel Thomas de Felenica be appointed as governor to the New Western Lands of the Empire. But with the de Felinica family controlling much of Aachen's commercial affairs, and their major contributions to temple construction, it would have been very poor politics to refuse the recommendation of their son's appointment. And to think that he was still there in Lubeck. Otto gently shook his head.

Thomas the Cat, as he was commonly known for his guile and smoothness, had started things well enough. Lubeck got settled. Military support got sailed in effectively. Things were going as planned. And then he made a major diplomatic mistake. The second wave of settlers to the new land were waiting for directions as to where to settle. In fact, by then they had travelled too far west: it was bad enough that the HRE were settling on land 'claimed' by the Americans. The local engineers and diplomats directed the settler to move more to the east to allow American settlements in between the two borders. But no, Thomas put his foot down emphatically - and declared - we will settle HERE! The tired settlers did not need any more encouragement to pitch their tents and get to work. Nuremburg was founded. Roosevelt would not be happy.

It was clear that the Americans weren't pleased, and diplomatic bargaining did not resolve anything either. A third settler was enroute to the New Western Lands - to complete the trio of planned cities. But the Americans, in addition to having military units in the area, also had a settler present. Thomas made a diplomatic proposal to the American'. But he was afraid they would outright reject the offer, and he could not afford to be beaten to the city site. With a complete lack of trust in American intentions, and in very poor judgement, he took the route of outright aggression. Without consulting Aachen, he decalred war on America and captured the settlers. Roosevelt was not impressed.

Otto reflected on the urgent diplomacy he personally was forced to undertake to rectify the situation. It cost the Empire considerable resources to appease the Americans for Thomas' aggression, to say nothing of the stain on the Empire's reputation. Otto further wondered whether these events would forever taint the American and Empire's relationship. Only time will tell, he thought to himself. Only time will tell.

And thankfully, the chanting was coming to an end ...

Japan proclaims that I plot against those I call friends. Why don't you enlighten the world and name one? I have never plotted against a friend, nor will, and the treaties of friendship I sign are inviolate. While you of course came here proclaiming a new friendship and within days proclaimed war.

Sparta suggests my neighbours fear me and that is why they don't speak up. Strange since my neighbour Portugal has spoken clearly and we have accepted his judgement. Did you miss that? My neighbours have non-aggression pacts with me, which I have public acknowledged, and know they need fear nothing. While Perdiccus on the other hand gets very angry when he hears of his neighbours' neutrality so angry that he is not prepared to admit publicly what his response is - sounds like peaceful Korea is about to be threatened.

Oldonia is one shale I go on? And again we never hid the fact we were going to fight you. We only hid it to you so we could get what we wanted.

We have yet to offically meet the Koreans but our problem is not with them either. If they wish to supply Rome then let them for they have done nothing to Japan. Also I am not truly fighty for russia. I could care less if they live or die. We fight for one reason and reason only and that is to test our armies against theirs.

The Decision


After he met the Fio'O and the Kor'O who explained him about the latest siege weapons, fortifications and the logistic capacities of the Empire, Asiz was studying the latest news from foreign lands. He read about the events in the East, as well as many messages from other rulers who asked him to take position.

A guard entered his chambers to tell him that a messenger had arrived. "He says he has come from the Russians, Aun'O." Intrigued, the Emperor stood up and went to the throne room.



A bald man stood in the middle of the room, carrying a small statue-like item. As soon as he saw the Emperor he kneeled down.

Standing in front of him, Asiz asked : " What do you have for me, russian ?" The man handed him a message, which he read immediatly. For a minute he just stared at the russian.

The russian then began to talk : " I have come through roman lands to bring you this, mighty Emperor. Hear the offer of my people or kill me for having failed, and brought shame on Russia. Take this statue as a token for the word of all Russia. "

"Guards, call for a scribe and both of the Shas'El. You have done well messenger." As soon as the scribe has arrived, Asiz began to announce the following :

I Hail you, rulers of the known world.

Most of you have written to me in order to know more about my standings in the current crisis. I know I have remained silent for too long, and time has come for me to act. May this message be the end of all doubts.

The russian people have adressed me, and seek my protection. They offer vassalage to the piercian crown. I am in position to accept their oath, and I do. I hope my involvement in this can put an end the current situation. As you may have heard, my armies would be capable of forcing peace in the area of conflict. This however, is the last thing I am hoping for.

May this be a new opportunity to reconsider all of your latest actions. A new beginning of the talkings. Rome and the Piercian Empire do share a non-agression treaty, and I invoke the obligations it creates for demanding immediate peace between Rome, the Piercian Empire and my Russian vassals.

The Spartans are asking for an embargo on Rome. Both have important deals with my Empire, and I would like to find a compromise. The city currently known as "New Mediolanum" is to be returned to Russian control. On this I agree with Sparta. What I suggest is that if the city is returned to russian control, I won't participate in any embargo against anyone in this crisis. I hope Rome can live up to it's peace-seeking words. If we can not put an end to this now, I will cancel all treaties with Rome until new terms, acceptable for me and in the interrest of my vassals can be found. Should this be the case, I kindly ask for another country to host new negociations.

I understand that this are new that will change the current situation alot, and I hope all of you can seize this opportunity to talk at least one last time. I want to avoid blodshed at all costs.

KOREAN DISCLOSURE



The following is an official document made public by Korea. It was a proposal made to the Wyandots, Oldonians, and Japanese. This proposal was accepted by all three of these countries.

It is now apparent that due to the statements made by Oldonia towards Korea that they have decided not to honor this agreement. It should be noted that the nations Oldonia, Japan and the Wyandot Nation agreed to this alliance PRIOR to the Russo-Roman war. This is important because it shows how valuable the word of these nations truly are. We do not say they are not, we ask you to draw your own conclusions, but for clarification we say this: The Japanese have NOT spoke ill of Korea, the Wyandots have NOT declared war upon Rome, and it is only the Oldonians who have done BOTH of these things... enjoy....

We would like to make a proposal to your better nature. As I am sure you are already aware, there has been a rise in contraversy surrounding the new land claims between the nations of the Khmer, Portugal, Greece and others. It is becoming increasingly evident to the Korean Empire that this matter is going to come to the fore of international events.

For the purpose of preventing "non-aligned" nations such as Korea, Oldonia, Japan, and the Maya our Emperor Sinjeong has proposed an alliance system that will provide our nations with a unified and strong position to take against larger and more influential states that may prevent us from getting what is rightfully ours; and that is political independence.

Clearly nations such as Piercia, Rome and Greece are in a position of rivalry. It wasn't long ago that Greece threatened invasion of Piercia, that Rome threatened invasion of Greece in retaliation. And not many years before that did Piercia and Rome invade Portugal. Currently, accross the great ocrean, the HRE is invading America, a small diminutive nation. We can not risk ignoring the lessons of the past. Currently our diplomatic discussions with Greece and the Romans show signs of a possible conflict, and we believe it wise if we show our solidarity as independent states and speak with one voice on the matter.

Here is what I propose:
1) That the Wyandots join in an alliance of independent states, so far the Japanese, Oldonians, Mayans and Koerans have all agreed to this.
2) For the purposes of maintaining good nature from other states we shall refuse membership to states that have clear political motives, while we will maintain good relations with Rome, Greece, Portugal and Piercia we believe their prior entanglements have shown that by admitting any of them as member states we risk political impasse with the others. Something we should avoid.
3) For this very reason, and the recent activity of the Russians, we haven't invited them either. If they show due deference towards our motives, and if they show political wherewithall, perhaps this will change.
4) Similarly, nations accross the ocean have also not been invited so as not to encroach upon their poltiical system, and appear as puppets to powerful states on our continent.
5) Once official, we will announce our alliance, which thus far has no name. We will lineate that our purposes are not meant to threaten, but meant to bolster our political position by unity and to show that while we may not be the strongest states, we refuse to fall into the background of international politics.
6) I believe, as far as decisions get made, we should have votes and allow for a veto so that no state as part of our alliance is controlled by the others.
7) As part of this alliance we should refrain from making brazen political statements until we have conferred with one another on the proper action that should be taken on behalf of the alliance.

We hope to have your support, and please respond as quickly as possible. By the way, we have an envoy prepared to visit your lands. This envoy is commanded by General Jumong of Goguryeo.

I do not write this with the intent on disclosing all of our missives, however we are concerned that Japan and Oldonia have accused us of "aiding" and "supplying" Rome respectively. This is entirely incorrect, in fact the very VOICE of independent states, the very man who called for a unification to avoid a large-scale struggle between two GIANTS was in fact our glorious Emperor Sejong of Goguryeo. You will have a reaction for our court shortly.....

But the gist of what i see is Russia has been forces into slavery unto Percia the number one ally of rome to gain peace in this issue where it ws innocnet.

This is not an adequate solution.

Seoul, Korea...

The Emperor greeted General Shin Sung at the entereance to the imperial palace. The General had been off to war with the Aztecs, attempting to take down their hilled-stronghold of Alemanni. The Korean army fought bitterly, but could have have been victorious without the support of the Piercian immortals under the command of Shas'O Au-R'On Mee'Ting. Sejong was displeased, he had been in talks with the Spartan Greeks after their refusal to close open borders with Rome. Sejong had many diplomats and personnel away on missions, and use of Roman seaways was necessary. Besides he was attempting to broker peace talks between the combatants, and by ending diplomatic ties with Rome this would become more difficult. He had managed to get the states of Japan, Oldonia and the Wyandot Nation to agree to an alliance of independent states, and just as soon as that was finished these very same states decided to fight in a Greek and Roman war. He feeled that he had failed peace, and failed his Buddhist teachings. He tried his hardest to stop the war, and come to a peaceful conclusion, to get back to representing his country and its allies in peace, and how quickly it all unravelled. He was already in a terrible mood.

"Give me some good news General!" Sejong said as the General approached him and bowed.

"I can my leige, however first the bad news; we have lost many men. Three whole battalions." The General said.

"My word!" Sejong said, "But, the good news General!" he said, it had been nothing but terrible news for the past few days, while many nations accepted to mediate the coflict, much of the battles had already occured, and now Korea's greatest friend - Greece - had now threatened to cut off all ties with him.

"We have successfully taken the stronghold, we have yet to destroy it, but we probably will shortly, with Piercian help. In fact, without their support we would have surely lost the day." the General said, "We owe a debt to the Piercians."

"Good, finally some good information" Sejong said, "Well let us get you some food-"

"Emperor." General Shin Sung said solemnly, "It ends there, a rider came when we were returning to Seoul, he brings a message from the Spartans..."

Even today you are still only talking about your holy iron.
You have accepted the losses of Russia already and you want to continue to the next day. You don't care that Rome has invaded two nations already and is threatening all surrounding nations.

All you care about is your own source of iron, nothing more.
Consider all our relations to be finished.

And about your holy iron, Sparta is a nation of honour, despite the fact that Korea apparently is not we will continue to supply you with iron.

I hope that Korea will soon regain the honour they had when General Bae was ruling Korea. He had honour. He wanted to stand up for the smaller ones. It was because of his honour that Sparta promised iron to Korea. I am sure that General Bae would hate it that his people nowadays care more about the iron then about their duties.

"I know sire, I read it myself" General Shin Sung said, "Quite a development I know. I hate to say this, but I wish Hae Mosu was here, he's better at this stuff than me. I hate to think I had anything to do with this!" General Shin Sung said, he had been acting as foreign minister while Hae Mosu was away.

"And he invokes Bae Hyeongyeong against me!" Sejong said.

"I knew Bae sir, he would not cower to Greece either. Well, what now sir?"

"I have to put out a statement, soon though, first let me speak to this Piercian..."
