    • How long does Russia need to be in the game? You should not ned 1 hour to make your moves.

          • and my point about land whining was just this:

I am in a situation I can't, fight, tech or develop myself out of, with only one neighbour barring me in, who has all resources, while I have a mediocre start with hardly any resources, bronze being one of those I lack.

the argument was not that my position was crap, but that it was in comparison totally unbalanced. regardless. it is irrelevant. I've taken the situation to heart and adapted to it. behold the story thread...

              • See, I didn't mean to fight or tech your way out of it, and that's the thing I was talking about. You have to use DIPLOMACY to get your way out. Isn't Portugal nearby? Aren't the Piercians and the Wydanot Nation nearby? I'm not suggesting anything specific, but those are options...

                • I have not met the piercians, nor the wyandots. I've explored quite a lot and they are quite far away. my point was, and still is, Rome's start is unbalanced, by the fact that he has much good land and resources, while at least myself, has neither. portugal has at least easy access to bronze (within capital fat x) giving them a military option. in my situation I had only one option and that was diplomacy. of course, I've taken it, but the fact remains, the starts are very unbalanced. if rome had been more aggressive, I would have been toast and there would have been little to nothing I could have done about it. that is unbalanced.

the starting regions were in my experience very poorly balanced. I just don't see how Pinchak could look at those two starts and conclude that they were even remotely balanced. THAT is my point.

                  • it is unbalanced yes, but once the game progresses you'll see what Pinhead was talking about.

Hey, you must admit I have been more than willing to negotiate and strike deals that suit us both.

But he has a point, I could if I wanted to, crush Russia.
