  • I don't know about the save file Capo. I can load mine up, go into cities, zoom in and out, but I can't move any units or change anything, not even add signs. and I can't end the turn. Which I assume is the way it's supposed to be. your problem seems different.

how are you loading it up? I usually load it as a LAN game, check ok and run it. that gives me the ability to do all kinds of map moving stuff like zooming, turning on and off filters, and stuff like that. are you using the posted save?
    Did Mongolia post a save?

does Cybershy know the answer perhaps...?

    • Can we stick to normal logins for this thread?

Only use the Dipo login for stories I reckon.

        • With anonymous play I can honestly say that I've only consciously worked out who a few civs probably are and I still might be wrong. Using Diplo logins in this thread has probably seen the most clues given away but I suspect some clues are deceptions.

          So that's good.

I'm deliberately not thinking too hard about it and immersing myself in the game and the stories and the secret messaging.

This brings up my next point.

Who has read and up to date with all the story posts? I have but it's an effort. I thionk we need to be careful not to post so much that not all players read it. Some might write but not read. We need a situation where everything written is read.

I can see a few situations where people are writing but perhaps not researching the existing posts first and I can see how this may be honorous.

I don't want to suggest a limit on posting but would like to know that all players are reading all posts.

          • I have read all the stories posted to date-including my own . As people know from the HOTWXI games, I do try & incorporate other people's storylines into my own where there is a definite cross-over, so for me reading the posts of others is vitally important.

I think I have guessed ONE civ-aside from me-but am starting to doubt my initial assumptions-so this Anon thing is working great. True, though, I am not trying to think too hard about it .

Yes, like America discribing Carpathia as if bodies are just stuck up on stakes throughout the countryside.

The means achieved the ends however, as crime was non-existent in early Carpathia. - from my story post
                Love the pic btw.

                • the picture can stay, I don't like it, but I am kind of faint of heart as regards to stuff like that. but I am not one to stifle freedom of expression, even in a silly context as this. I just didn't like it. my comment was a comment, not a demand that it be removed, that is for the moderators to choose as you say.

and lol @ carpathia, you sick sick civ

what I meant was that hiding her nipples is based on the assumption that they would somehow arouse "immoral" thoughts or whatever, why else hide them? as if nipples are somehow immoral or evil, while impalement is apparently not, at least not enough to warrant censorship. my position is that if explicit violence is acceptable, then sexually explicit content should also be, the latter has in my opinion mostly positive connotations, while violence is just bad. it seems to me completely turned around that sex/nudity which is good is censored, while violence which is bad is not. and nipples aren't even sexually explicit, they're a static body part!
since I am a fierce proponent of free speech, I don't believe graphic violence and nudity should be censored, but it should stay within bounds of appropriate context. it's just that I don't consider nudity to be inappropriate in any context. the human body is not inappropriate. I consider sex to be inappropriate in certain contexts, but nipples dont' have anything to do with sex. (arguably...)

if a child were to see that picture it is not the nipples that would give it nightmares.

so in summary, leave it. it's not the violence I'm disturbed by it is the world's sense of priorities. (though that pic is disturbing)

                    • You are also failing to realise Lz that some of us are American, and for some reason in the USA nudity is WORSE than violence.

I know it makes no sense, but legally this is the situation in our country, you should blame Europe honestly, because they cared so much about bullsh*t religion that we now care too much too.

Sorry, its my nature... to me my country hates nipples (for some reason, I don't know why they're awesome and we all have them) over the problem with violence, look at our movies.

Sorry, i fixed it though, so there are nice little nipples now to counteract the violence.

Sorry if I gave away my identity.

                      • Also the main point of the post was to expose that American diplomats, despite their best intentions, were willing to ignore such gratiuitous violence just to help their own aims.

And in a lot of ways blurring out the breasts accomplished this goal because it focused on the horrible display of humanity (or lack thereof) that was shown in the photograph.

Carpathian posts themselves attest to this, so I think the photo (while DISGUSTING to everyone) proved the point I was trying to make. I will not take it down. And if the moderators wish to do so, I will boycott this game.

                        • Sorry for the multiple posts, but if Carpathia didn't want to look as violent as this perhaps they shouldnt' have posted the impalements originally.

                          Look it up.

                          • I now realize how stupid and ignorant my post was when I accused Europe of causing this situation in the US, that was a really dumb argument, and I apologize for making it.

I will say though, you did post a picture of an actual dead horse, and mine was a live actress posing as a dead woman. So really, what's the real difference?

aha! well if that is the case then I am 99% in agreement! why didn't you say so earlier!

Punishing us players by boycotting the game for the decisions of the moderators is not logical.

your picture shows human cruelty at its most barbaric, to the shock and awe of everyone. my picture shows an animal that has ceased to be. The dead horse and the hammering smiley were meant to be funny. it was meant to defuse the whole situation, make people smirk and get on with the game. there is no cruelty in that picture. it is a dead horse. horses die. this one of natural causes. if nature is somehow problematic then you should call up national geographic. (I'm not implying that you consider nature problematic, I'm being sarcastic, to again, to defuse the situation and get on with the game)

and please do me and everyone a favor and try to revise your posts so if any identityrevealing slipups have been made, are removed. so that your identity is still somewhat obscure, to the rest of players, even if it is not to me. (though you could be doing a fantastic job at misdirection if you're not who I suspect you of being)

(this post has been continously edited for clarity, oratory and the confusion of its readers. it is now finally in its final edition. no further edits will be made)

                              nope. one more! (spelling error)

                              • as for europe and the US and religion and such.

I can only apologize and say: sorry for shipping all our fanatics, fundamentalists and loonies over to you guys.

but it's not a sincere apology, cause we don't want those here anyway.
