France, can you confirm whether the second connection is another ISP or not? If it's the same ISP then they might need to adjust a port for you (happens with some ISP's or get rid of VOIP a known problem for MP games)

The funny thing is I didn't check on his computer, I was just so frustrated, I'll have to call him to verify.


Could you elaborate on the suggestions concerning the ISP and VOIP?


I can't permanetly get rid of the VOIP since it isn't "mine". Do you think janking it out during civ4 sessions would help in any way?

Can someone please post clear and detailed instructions on how to load the save?

I got it to work once, but it forced me to be france??? Is that save from france?

I quit out as soon as I saw the game acutally loaded up as france. (sorry france I got to see your screen for about a second).

There was another time when it wanted to load me as mali. I quit out before it loaded.

Any idea why this is happening? Oddly enough the save is from the mongols.

Could we have all players post their technology trades in the story post, so we can keep track. I fear that in time some may forget their trades.

Most importantly we can keep track of each others trades, thus reassuring accurate account.

I'd also would like to thank Mongolia for sending me the save and I would really like to thank Nols, she seemed to know exactly what needed to be done.

The truth is I made a humongous mistake during the early turns of session 1, if this was SP or normal MP I would have just stopped playing. After that my poor civ skils came into play and I over-compensated with pop-rushing, getting me a small and unhappy population. The problems with the sessions were doubly frustrating because all it would take is another major mistake by a sub and France would be more or less gone.

Nols, you did a great job, easily better than I would have. If you are reading this know that you have one very grateful Frenchman here.







Not much progress with the internet issues. I did tests with 4 friends and the thing works, It bloody does. I have no idea what to do next. Once the new thread opens I'll post details in the hopes of getting some more advice. I would also like to arrange for a test to be held on Saturday or Friday with as many diplo players as possible. Please post times that are ok for you.


As Mongolia suggested we shouldn’t waste more than half an hour of session time next time. I will be half an hour early this Sunday as well. This wil hopefully give me an hour to do something.


We should also make arrangements if there is trouble with me again, so a sub should be found who can play from half an hour after session start to its end. The person who digs one up should give me the subs contact info so I can give him a summary of deals and commitments I made.

Well you can always add the tech deals in your stories - but then if people want to keep track of all techs it gets frustrating reading 20 pages of story posts to find out who traded what and with who.

So to be more helpful we should just state it in plain text our deals every other week or so. Makes our lives much more easier keeping account!

I already proposed the first post of the organisation thread would have a "scoreboard" that showed how many tech trades each civ has done. That would make our lives much more easy than searching the story thread for "tech updated posts".
