  • I remember subbing for you HOTW5 as Russia.

Somebody was so right when he said look we are after all 9 player who will have different views on things. I guess to make this game work with the rules - we should make some compromises here and there.

I'm easy i will go with whatever makes people happy - I'm just happy to play that is it

    • Hey, I tried to look at the save and it just says "Waiting on other Civilizations" so I downloaded it from here, and it doesn't show up in my files.

      What's up with that?

      • Dont' get mad at me just because I noticed
Capo I actually don't care if you have noticed - doesn't change anything for me or my game strategy.

You just hurt your enjoyment - mine is running at 101%.

This is due to the security feature 3.13 has, all players should be present for you to look around. It is made so people can not advance the turn and cheat this way.

That is why we all left last session to have only the host Mongolia stay and make a good save - so if someone misses session 2 we can play without him.

          I hope this helps

          • Eh, that didn't help, not that you didn't help but that informatino doesn't help me.

Really? That's stupid, I can't look at the save? I need to though.

                • Well Capo you can look at the save - but some things may be locked like getting in your cities etc. I just tried to open the save i made - well i can look around the map but not enter my capital and also i can't select units.

Well i think Mali stayed after all people left and made a save - this way he was the only human left and he can end turns if he loads that save.

In yours and mine case we can't - but you should be able to look around the map and make screen shots

                  Helped?

                  • That's precisely what I can't do and need to do.

Basically I can't zoom in and out at all, and I have to take a very large shot.

                      • you can't enter your cities?
I always am able to do that, even while the game is 'locked'.

Regarding tech whoring, why not get back to the "Trade techs only twice" rule, including "no tech brokering".
You can include the option to allow gifting techs to civs that are at the bottom of the scorelist. (ie. the last 2 civs).

                          • Capo commented on me posting these suggestions as the civ I play. I wanted to be transparent which you can't do if you post as your normal handle. Anyone can check their information of the French to see if there are ulterior motives. Like the Carpatian refusal is clearly a direct result of their interests and not caused by their belief the 10 tech rule is the better one, and I respect them for having the decency to not hide this.

@Capo If you had to live with a rule... Which would be better? The less limiting 10 vouchers or the totalitarian and possibly broken 10 tech limit?

@Toni Regardless of HOTWXII which is the better rule? And please note France just wants to play just as much as you. We love the game thus far, even if we are the last in score , all we want to do is to make sure a good game doesn’t go downhill.

any other rules, mods, additions can be discussed for hotwX and or hotwXIII.

(note that we are also using the vote system to count score)

I understand your frustration mr.lincoln, but rest assured that the timeslot we use now is the first time since we started playing civ4 diplogames that the timeslot has changed. this is to a certain extent an experiment. and if you wish, you are more than welcome to initiate hotw in another time slot. when hotwXI ends you might even get some players from there.
Well LZ i am honored for the suggestion but incase you guys havent noticed I'm not Einstin when it comes to computers. I have no clue how to run mods or any that stuff. I am though considering creating HOTW X but if i did it would be like a secule to HOTW11 and hopefully have same time, day, roster, and so on. Just differ maps or rules. I will tell you guys soon enough if i plan to..i need to think of it. If i do you ll find the link on all the threadfs of HOTW11/12 so just keep an eye open.

                              • Capo. Please shut up. You're the only one wailing. So shut up. You're the only purist here. The only one that thinks absolutely no rules is best. Do you get that? We hear you, and I believe most of us disagree.

Some rules must be present to prevent the game from becoming tilted and uninteresting. Fairness schmairness. I don't care much about fair. I want interesting. Diplo good, and you'll counter your disadvantages. That is my opinion. But no rules = limited and bad diplo. Previous games have in my opinion proven this. People you mention don't consider techwhoring wrong? Perhaps this is right. But a lot of them consider it unbalancing. And they have made or agreed to rules that rectify it. What the hell do you think Ozzy's point system is for? Rewarding more than game mechanic efforts.

You and I disagree. Fine. But I want to play this game and spend my energy writing story posts and letters. I don't want to have to argue with you. A decision was made. Complaints were made. I tried to address them. A suggestion was made. I thought people could say what they felt about it. If all thought it was a good idea we could use it. People don't, so we won't.
Changing the cost of techs now is completely out of the question. Perhaps for other games, but we are not discussing other games here.

You don't like the chairman? Neither do I. But if someone hadn't taken the organizer role, we would still be arguing. Cyber suggested me, Deity suggested me, Heraclitus approved, as did others I believe. Toni says I've done an acceptable effort organizing. You apparently don't. But don't worry, I'll never be organizer again. But I'm going to finish keeping this game on the tracks.

You know who everyone is, good for you. I don't. And I don't want to know. I'm enjoying myself. I consider anonymous logins a great success so far. In fact, the only player I am fairly sure who is, is you, cause you kept protesting and throwing your mouth of. If not I would only have my suspicions, now I'm fairly sure.

I should have told France to shut up when he suggested the voucher system. Not because I didn't like the idea. But because it would, and did, bring up this can of worms. Or your can of worms to be more specific. Carpathia doesn't want it, he voted no. Case closed. You could have done the same. But you have to launch into your tirade.

So no France, sorry. We started with a presupposition that there were 10 tech trades and I'm not changing anything unless there is full consensus. And Capo. Can't you just enjoy the game? You want a different ruleset, start up HOTWXIII. This is the HOTWXII thread. Our rules are set by general consensus. We are sticking with them.

                                End of discussion.
