  • I'll load up the game at 9am Saturday Aust EDT (an hour earlier than my normal) so just join the staging screen as soon as you can... if you confirm that you are definitely playing we should wait up to an hour until all confirmed players have arrived.

So please post if you are NOT playing this session.

We should have a 3 hour minimum session please.

    • I still have no idea what is going on, heh, but I'll show up at my usual time, about half an hour before our standard start time.

9 am saturday EDT will be 10 pm friday UTC. For you guys in the Neatherlands that's 12 am, for me its 6 pm and for those gringos that don't know s**t about DST it'll be 5 pm.

Let me remind you though that the official starting time (at least until now) is 11 pm UTC, which is 10 am for Deity, 1 am for the .... well, you know, one hour later. I know, that's why you said you'll wait an hour before we start.

btw, I have a dentist appointement at 6 pm on friday. I should make it just fine before 7 pm (local times fellows) but just in case I run late don't wait for me, I'll be hotjoining as soon as I get home (nice clean teeth...ouch!)

        • So this friday we play UTC 22:00, in other numbers 24:00 in central europe (me and the dutch).

Is everyone who doesnt have DST ok with us starting an hour earlier?

damn these time zones. We finally have it working and then DST messes everything up. I can play 01-04 (23 UTC), but how about cyber? And if we do start an hour earlier, wont that be 6 in the morning for Kuno?

And: maybe you can make it possible to e-mail you through poly as well, since PM is the only way to contact you right now.

That's exactly why we should be starting at 23:00 UTC. Personally, I can't make it if we start at 22:00 UTC, I'll probably be home around 22:30 UTC ...

                • Turn Order

Since we will see the first pvp war next session its time to talk about turn order during combat. We agreed to enforce a turn order during war at the beginning of this game and I think its a good idea. Everyone will do it on his honor and let the others know once he has moved his units. This will apply only to combatants. Neutral countries will play as normal.

I propose the following turn order:

                  America
                  Russia
                  Germany/France (?)
                  India
                  France/Germany (?)

So Cyber will move all his units, then let the rest of us know he is finished. Then Russia will move, and so on.

                  Good?

                  • Why should I move first? I am not preparing to move.
The russians and the indians have declared war upon me. Let them move first

                      I will most certainly try.
May I insist though that the game start be kept at 23:00 UTC?
DST meant game starts 1 hour earlier for us in the southern hemisphere
and it means one hour later for guys in the US and Europe
and no change for Kuno Wouldn't it be fair to keep it like this instead of being 2 hours earlier for us in the southern part of the world?

                      • Now, can someone please explain this crazy thing about combat not being simultaneous? What's the point?

Simultaneous combat seems to be anti-civ in nature. Its just comes down to who has the fastest finger, not to real strategy or anything of that sort. It just seems like a bad idea.

                            • It's not really 'who has the fastest fingers' since you still can only do one move per turn.
It can only make a difference to the question if you move first or last.

But I agree that it's not really a perfect way of making war. I think this solution doesn't fix it either.

imagine that I've moved and the next person can move. What if I forgot a move? Will I be able to restrain myself?
